West Laville Hall Dorm Reviews at LSU

The location was across the street from the student union and not that far from the quad. I loved my building, but there were safety issues in the beginning and the bathroom on my floor was always a mess.

At first I was very skeptical of being placed in the honors dorm, but by the end of the year I truly enjoyed my experience. The dorm is not too loud, has great study rooms, and is in a great location. It’s right next to the 459 Dining Hall and very close to the university recreation center.

I had a great year in West Laville Hall. My room was a corner room and half of the size of everyone else's rooms. They were constructing East Laville, so the noise levels were high in early mornings. I lived on the 3rd floor, and there were always girls running down the hall (as expected in a college dorm) but minimal penalties for late night antics. The elevator key card reader was broken when I lived there, so any gender could access any floor at the time. It was very well kept, and felt much nicer than a lot of the other dorms on LSU's campus.

All in all, it was pretty fun. Despite being held back by COVID-19, it was a great expirience to be away from home, but still feel safe. I would absolutely recommend this dorm to a friend because it is very close to the student union and UREC.

West Laville, having been built in the 1940s, has a lot of character. The recent renovation has kept much of that character while modernizing it. The libraries and study rooms are the perfect space to relax with friends or study late into the night. It is generally very quiet and has a beautiful view of the French House and oak trees around it. It is in the perfect location, just across the street from the bookstore and student union, right next to the dining hall and close to the rec center! The staff were lovely people who were very helpful. Laviile feels like home!
