Hinton James Hall Dorm Reviews at UNC

A lot of people say that Hinton James is one of the nosier residence halls, however, I never found noise to be a complaint. With around 1,000 residents in the dorm, there are more opportunities to continuously bump into and meet new people all throughout the year. I loved the balcony on the 8th floor where every night you saw the most beautiful sunset!

I was only at Hinton James for a short period before campus closed due to COVID-19 but it was a pleasant experience for the time I was there. It was nice being on campus and being able to interact with other students and it was not a bad walk from the dorm to various locations on campus.

I enjoyed my time in my hojo dorm. The dorms were clean upon move in and although the dorm was a bit of a walk from campus it had a nice community. The bathrooms were fine, but only some people were brave enough to sit down in the shower. My favorite part of the dorm was the balcony. Everyday I could walk outside and look at the forest across the road while I brushed my teeth or had morning coffee.

I enjoyed living in Hinton James Dormitory because it was a great environment to be in as a freshman. My suitemates and I became great friends, but sharing a bathroom with 7 other girls was difficult.
