Granville is in the best location at Chapel Hill! It is a 5 minute walk to campus and is in the ideal location for downtown Chapel Hill. The rooms are very spacious and are kept up nice! Closets are a great size and you have a private bathroom. Traditional rooms are shared between 4 people (1 roommate, 2 suitemates). more

Taylor Hall (Ram Village 4)

They did not regularly clean the common areas (someone threw up in the stairwell and it smelled like that for months), our elevators constantly broke down or trapped people inside, My room was barely cleaned when I first arrived (dust everywhere and black mold in shower curtain), It is far away from everything but the business school. more

Great location on north campus which is close to academic buildings as well as one of the dining halls. I do wish we had laundry facilities within the dorm. Space in room is adequate for 2. Staff keep bathroom facilities clean. more

The only reason I would give mixed ratings for the complex is the fact that there was a break in attempt on my apartment and my neighbors unit was actually broken into. I lived in the complex for a 14 month lease and a 7 month lease. There were also a few incidents where 10+ vehicles windows were broken and items were stolen. more

Grimes Hall

The location is only beaten by Old East and Old West, but not by much. Grimes and its three neighboring dorms are centrally located, not a three-minute walk from the Union, Lenoir Dining Hall, and Davis Library, and still not terribly far from Franklin Street. Grimes' only special commodity is a pool table, but other buildings in the community (which residents can go between as they please) offer a piano, an air-hockey table, and even a so-called "gourmet" kitchen complete with glass-top stoves. The community also includes Old East and Old West, the universities oldest buildings. more

Aycock Hall

I loved living in Aycock because it was close to the main academic buildings and overall pretty quiet. The woman who cleaned the bathrooms was rude at times, though and the people who lived on my hall could be pretty cliquey. more

I share a room with one other person and a bathroom with 2 other people. We clean our own bathroom and we really have no common areas. The trash is taken out on a regular basis so you don’t have to worry about that. more

Old East Hall

Old East is the oldest dorm on campus (opened around 1793). If you're thinking about living there, it's definitely worth it, just so you can say you were there. The rooms themselves are rather small, and there was a bit of a spider problem while I was there... But don't let that stop you! You can always make memes out of the spiders and move on, like we did. It was really a fun time! more

Granville Towers - South Building

Was only there for two weeks, great location. Lots of very active people, food was decent. I would highly recommend if you plan on frequenting frats or joining a sorority. Pretty far from other freshmen residence halls, but very close to Franklin street! more

Teague Hall

Teague is a pretty nice dorm. The rooms are spacious and there aren't many people who live there so it is a pretty quiet dorm. The basement of Teague is also really spacious and fun, its a good place to just chill or do homework. The worst thing about Teague is that there is no laundry room so you have to go next door to either Carmichael or Parker, also the vending machines kind of suck. more
