Dawson Hall Dorm Reviews at Baylor

I lived here for one year and wanted to leave asap. Part of that was because I got paired with a random roommate and not the girl I chose to live with. The dorms were suites, so we all shared a bathroom. But that means you have to clean, unlike if you had the dorm showers on each floor. There was paint chipping and the floors were just not great, but the rooms were large. My CL was a little all over the place and we didn't do a lot of events, unlike a lot of the other dorms.

Dawson was a great first-year living community. This dorm is part of the LEAD LLC, and I was able to find long-lasting and genuine relationships within LEAD. I had a great first year here, and made lots of great memories.

Above I included a picture of my dorm room. I do not have any pictures of the halls, common rooms, community restrooms, laundry room, and kitchen. I did live in a dorm during the pandemic, so the community wasn't the best. The community aspect paled in comparison to other dormitories and residence halls on campus. I had a group of roommates that I had never met before college, and I now call my best friends. The rooms are larger than would expect, based on how you situate the furniture. Dawson is a Leadership LLC, which requires some community work, a leadership class in the first semester, as well as an opportunity for scholarships. The dorm is situated across the street from the Collins dorm and is by a dining hall. One downside to living next to a dining hall is the smell of the trash on certain days.

Housing was great for a smaller and more inexpensive dorm. I enjoyed the community activities and the pairing of the boys dorm next door. Having the best dining hall on campus was a benefit but the roomate situation was tragic.

Dawson is an overall descent dorm to live in and its great because of the bathrooms in the dorm. You would not need to use the community bathroom. Also, Dawson is connected to a dinning hall and makes getting food very convenient. They are very strict about noise and even alarms. If you do not readily wake up to your alarms, then you will get a noise complaint. The main downfall of this dorm is that staff have to act as a police. People will complain to the CL OFTEN, so if you are not a rule follower then this is gonna be very difficult. The live in faculty members are amazing and frequently host food parties. Lastly, Dawson is really nice for the leadership feature. when you are a first year and do nit know people, the leadership activities and welcome groups are a nice way to make friends and make the college transition easier. I would not recommend Dawson just for the drama that occurs but the living spaces are a lot nicer than other dorms.

Dawson hall may be a bit older than the other dorms, but itβs not bad, promise. The elevator is frequently under maintenance. I like that Dawson is so close to Pat Neff and Fountain Mall. All in all, the enthusiasm and support of the people around you is super encouraging (especially on those rough study nights)!

Dawson is a bonding place. A lot of friendships are made there. Thereβs multiple places in Dawson where you can relax. The bathroom are a 6/10 because of it being community styled. Sometime people can be very dirty and not clean up there mess.

Dawson Hall has an amazing sense of community within it, the Community Leaders do their best to get everyone involved in activities, and will host many opportunities for community service or to just meet other individuals in the dorm. This residence hall is also one of the most quiet dorms. The rooms themselves are very small but have areas for storage. I have personally had issues with the shared bathroom, but maintenance orders are fixed immediately. The location of Dawson is directly next to a dining hall which is perfect for freshman who use the meal plan, or to grab something fast to go back to studying. It is also directly next to a large parking lot making travel very accessible, the only downside to the location would be if the student is a STEM major who needs to travel to the Baylor Science Building across campus.

I really like staying at Dawson. The staff and CL's are super nice and very welcoming. I was lucky to get a really good roommate and we get along very well. I would recommend getting a private bathroom instead of the community restrooms.

Dawson Hall is my favorite place on campus. It is a hidden gem at Baylor, so you have a good chance of getting accepted to live there. The rooms are some of the largest on campus, and the people there create the most incredible, caring community. Dawson coordinates and puts on super fun events for residents including weekly community nights. You can also participate in intramurals for free with the dorm as a freshman (something that very few freshman have the opportunity to do!) I don't know what my experience would be like without living there.
