Foothill Dorm Reviews at UC Berkeley

With its location being North of campus, the walk up to Foothill can be a lot at the beginning of the year especially because most of it is uphill. It is also pretty far from Southside and Downtown Berkeley(where most of student life outside of campus is). Other than that however, Foothill is a very good choice to dorm at. It is very quite and peaceful around the area and the cabin-esque style it has creates a nice atmosphere. It is also located near the hills of Berkeley which causes some of the wildlife to be spotted. My friends and I have spotted multiple deer and see wild turkeys on a day to day basis. The dining hall is located within the residence hall and it is very safe as compared to the dorms located in Southside.

Foothill is both great and not great because of the location. I liked that it is a bit removed from Southside, but of course (as the name implies) it is on a hill (many stairs) so sometimes walking back was not super fun. Is more like a log cabin at summer camp than the big concrete buildings of the units. Dining hall is smaller and quieter than the others so is a better eating experience in my opinion. The suite style is also super nice rather than a typical residence hall, and some of the triples don't have bunk beds!

Foothill is I would say by far the best dorm in terms of feeling homey and safe as well as more of an independent feeling, like an apartment. This may also be a downside however as some may prefer a dorm communal feeling which is only here if you look to build friendships and participate in the unit activities yourself, since it being so far from the other units and such a spacious place makes it more private but also VERY safe.

Ideal dorm for Engineering and CS students. Its very high up and hard to get to though so be prepared for lots of hills climbing. It used to have the best dining hall food but I've heard that's changed.

The overall experience is alright, it's just that it doesn't get to do much if you don't have a lot to do. Living in the units gives you more access to events, and just things to do in general. That's why I say that I would not recommend it to a friend.

What makes Foothill great were overall the people you get to meet there. Since it's so distant from all other student life, I feel like everyone there is able to build stronger bonds. Overall the location was amazing as it was really calm and I felt safe living there in comparison to other areas in Berkeley.

Foothill was kind of a walk from campus but it honestly was a great place to live. Everything was very quiet and pretty well maintained, and the rooms were very big and spacious. The dorm cafeteria wasn't bad either and they had great late night food.
