I think living in Unit 3 comes with certain ideas that it's trashy or ghetto, but in reality it is not that bad, sure it is not living in luxury, but it is not the worst living situation imaginable. The location is really close to campus and to Telegraph Ave. which makes it a perfect spot to be as close as campus as possible.

Other than the food right by Unit 3, the location and proximity to Greek Life and the library makes me very well situated. I find myself very comfortable with my roommates and the levels of noise are feasible to get by with.

Overall, Unit 3 is a pretty good dorm to stay at because of its location. It's right on Durant Avenue which has all the best late-night food and also has its own dining hall (Cafe 3). However, it is also the oldest in terms of furniture and amenities out of all the residences but this doesn't make it terrible to live in (watch out for the janky elevator in Norton hall though!). The staff are nice and everything you need is in Unit 3. So is it the best place to stay? Nope, that'd be Blackwell. Is it still a good place to stay for your first year at Berkeley? Absolutely.

Unit 3 has a really great location, but the amenities are the oldest on campus. The buildings themselves are also very old compared to Blackwell, but the location makes up for it. It's right on Durant which has a bunch of awesome food so it's really convenient, plus the Bear Market and Cafe 3 are in Unit 3 so you don't have to go far at all for food.
