Studebaker Hall West Dorm Reviews at Ball State

student baker connected me to a lot of people in my major, student baker west is one of the biggest dorms at ball state and it a lot of fun, it very spacious, and the bathrooms are clean, people are very friendly.

Stu West was a dorm for Social Science majors mainly. I would have to say if you ever need party connections and supplies, Stu W would be it. The number of times the police have stopped by to arrest someone or take them to the hospital is crazy. The RAs are really nice though.

I loved living there! The only thing that I did not like about it was that it was on the edge of campus and that the doors were heavy so they wouldn't stay open easily. I know this seems like a weird complaint but it made it a little bit more difficult to meet people because everyone's doors were always closed.

I love Stu West! It is a great dorm to be put in, and it is close to a lot of places. It's about a 5-7 minute walk from the atrium which is a popular dining hall. It's also about a 5-minute walk to the library. A lot of the academic buildings are close as well!

It was clean, the staff is super nice! But the decor is super outdated and it feels like living in a dentists office. Cops are outside of stu west more than any other dorm building and the bathrooms are HORRIBLE. They're community style so if you want to feel like you're in a high school gym every time you need use the bathroom or shower it's perfect for you! Also, the building is so old that when it's winter you'll be lucky to get a lukewarm shower. In my bathroom I found ONE shower that would stay decently warm in the winter. Overall, it's a cheap place to stay and it's quiet but I wouldn't recommend it to a prisoner :)

Stu west has been a true home away from home. All the staff is respectful and friendly. The bathrooms are always clean. Every floor has communities that are beyond inclusive. It's always the hangout spot as in the middle of campus and you can reach 3-4 dining halls in less than a 10 minute walk.

I had a great experience with Studebaker West. They were accommodating for my disability, and always quick to fix any problems. It was kept pretty clean, and I never had any problems with it being dirty. Noise complains were handled well.

I have been at Stu West for a year and a half now. Not only are the RA's friendly but so is the cleaning staff. The bathroom's and common area's are cleaned twice a day, we have a computer lab, gym, vending machines, pool tables, and laundry room in the basement. There is also music rooms with piano's located in the basement. On the main floor we also have a mini market where you can get food and snacks late at night. 10/10 would recommend.

Great Hall, located centrally on campus. Makes it easy to get to most classes. The cafeteria has a great selection, which is convenient for crappy days. The hall is big, so you'll have plenty of opportunity to meet new people.

My experience at Studebaker West (whitcraft hall) was, I think, as good of an experience as you can get from a 57 year old (although renovated in 2000) dorm building with communal bathrooms. The bathrooms were always clean (we really do have an excellent custodial staff) and rarely too heavily occupied. The rooms were fine. The furniture is not loft-able, so that was a bit of a disappointment as I was looking forward to condensing space. You can bunk the beds but there is also a fair amount of floor space even if you decide to leave both beds on the floor. The building is shaped like an X so if you're on one of the inside rooms, you don't get much natural light, or a good view. Due to COVID-19 I have been unable to use the kitchenette or many of the common spaces and amenities that would make my experience better, but I completely understand why we are unable to get full use out of all the amenities here. One major plus is that there is AC and heat in the building/rooms so that is great! I have overall had a good experience living in Studebaker West, but I would suggest if you're able to choose your builidng to pick one of the North residence halls or the noyer hall with private bathrooms if you're a first year.

It was super good I lived here for a year but, personally when I was living here people had problems keeping that bathroom clean definitely not staff problems more just other residents being disrespectful.

I loved the dorm building because it was newer and definitely well taken care of in regard to maintenance. The rooms were a little small but as long as you don't have a ton of extra furniture and keep your things organized and clean it shouldn't be an issue. My roommate was really great but she had a lot of extra stuff and had trouble staying organized so my freshman year wasn't as enjoyable as it could have been. So make sure you find a roommate that is going to help you stay organized. The only thing I didn't like about Stu West was the location. I loved that it was kind of away from everyone walking around campus but for someone that had an off-campus job it was less than ideal. Obviously, as a freshman, I had to park my car at the stadium and take the bus back to campus. I was fine with taking the bus because I had a friend come with me. However, the bus let off on the main road that runs through the middle of campus and the dorm was way in the back; easily another 5-10 minute walk from the bus stop. Other than that I think the trees and stream around the dorm were absolutely beautiful and actually one of the things that made me so excited to live there.

I honestly love living at Stu-West as a freshman! I am on the 9th floor which offers a great view, especially for watching sunsets! I have made a lot of friends in this building and am continuing to make friends! I really like a lot of the staff and feel very safe and comfortable in this dorm.

I really like this hall and the people in it. The 7th floor has a lounge area that includes a pool table room, tv's, and conference rooms for privacy. The staff are all very nice and will help a lot when needed. Whenever there is an RA around they will say hello to you and make you feel so welcome.

My experience at Studebaker West has been fantastic . Overall the entire hall is run very well and most people I have come in contact with have been friendly. Everyone follows covid procedures well and they respect the decisions of others to stay safe in these unprecedented times. Overall, Studebaker West is great!

Studebaker Hall West was an experience I will not forget anytime soon. I made so many friends and memories with those friends in the dorms and common areas. It wasn't too far off of campus, so the walk in the cold and hot weather bearable. A few of my other friends on campus lived in Kinghorn and Noyer so they were close to me too!

My experience at Studebaker was very pleasant. The bathrooms were cleaned every other day. The showers allowed for good privacy and there was plenty of space to change. There were many sinks and there were stalls and showers always open.

It has been pretty nice and welcoming. It is difficult to socialize with the pandemic though, but that’s an issue anywhere so that is not the dorm’s fault. The dorm rooms are really nice though and have air conditioning.

It has been great! Even with Covid and social distancing the dorm has found many creative ways for us to build relationships and have an amazing college experience. The rooms are spacious and there is a great recreation room.
