Spence Hall Dorm Reviews at DBU

I loved my experince in Spence Hall, I loved my roomate and housemates. The white glove check was a pain, because the RD that checked the rooms would find anything for you to fail sometimes and for the school to get more money. I got in trouble for having a guava fruit in my fridge...

I have personally enjoyed my experience at Spence Hall as a freshman in college. The dorm rooms are spacious and fairly new. The suite bathrooms came in handy versus the community bathrooms in the other dorm buildings. There is hardly any noise in the halls and It's quiet at night. I have always felt safe in my dorm due to the ID scanning at the front doors and each hallway. Overall a nice experience in the dorms.

Spence has been a great place to live! It is the "nicer" girls' dorm at DBU because it is suite style, newer, and more spacious than the other, Crowley. The halls are very quiet and look very similar to a hotel. The only thing I do not like about Spence is that the rooms have tile floors which can get dirty easily, and and it's not as vibrant as Crowley. However, it is easy to navigate and has a study room on the fourth floor, which is super convenient.

I have absolutely had the best experience at Spence! It is very clean and honesty feels like a hotel. The hallways are very nice, and the entry way has a beautiful piano and staircase. It is four stories, so not too big, but also a decent size. The exterior of the building is outstanding and beautifully historic. However, the rooms are definitely a tight squeeze. I share a room with two other girls, and a bathroom with a total of 5. With girls typically being on the more high maintenance, it is busy. However, I understand that this is a part of dorm life. The staff does a wonderful job keeping the halls and community areas clean. However, with COVID, we have not been able to experience the full benefits of spending time in the community areas. Additionally, boys are not allowed in girls dorms, and vise versa. This is understandable with DBU being a christian university, however, this might be a turn off for some people. The noise level is not bad at all. Spence is always a safe and quiet place to return to and recuperate. I truly do feel at home here. Overall, I have had a wonderful experience in this dorm, and would recommend this living space to all.

It was a pretty awesome experience. Would do it again, just do not like the fact I cannot cook. I enjoyed the fun and laid back vibe, and all of my best friends ended up being in my hall. We did have to clean a lot, which I didn't mind, and made the place very clean. The room was kinda small, but it was fun still.

Moving into Spence was super easy, every dorm room has its own personal bathroom. So you don't really have to worry about sharing. The staff keep the dorms super clean and even have a cleaning and sanitizing service you can use.

Living in Spence was nice because we had a good degree of privacy and independence. We were close to the dining hall but far from classes. At least it was at the top of the hill, unlike living in the apartments. Winter was tough because the wind blows cold over the top of DBU Mountain and the walk was long to the Library or where ever classes were.

This is my first year of college and I am staying in Spence Hall at DBU. Spence is a wonderful place to dorm at because it is one of the cleanest dorms I have been in and the community within the dorm is outstanding. I really feel like I am at home here and I would recommend living in Spence to everyone!

My experience at Spence Hall has been good so far. Due to COVID we cannot have our friends that do not live in Spence over which sucks. But overall it is okay. Maintenance is also behind at the moment and the rooms temperature isn't always accurate. And we can hear nose from the road and it's sometimes really noisy.
