Stalnaker Hall Dorm Reviews at Drake

Stalnaker, or Stally, was an overall pretty great hall to live in for freshman year. It was the closest to the dining hall, large in size, and the rooms were not cramped at all. There was an instance at the beginning of the year where my wall would collect lots of moisture from some broken pipe thing, and this also led to some mildew growing in multiple patches over the carpet. It got fixed within 14 days which isn't great, but it was better than nothing. Besides that, I really appreciated the cleanliness of everything else!

Such a great residence hall experience for a first-year college student. I lived on the ground floor which was co-ed in a triple room and made some of my best friends on my floor. Could not have asked for a better dorm experience!

Stally is always a very populated dorm with a large variety of people. I met a lot of my current friends there and its usually very clan and well kept. The RAs can be hit or miss and sometimes the front desk can be clogged with traffic for people talking or picking up packages. But out of all the doors it is the easiest to move in and out of which is a major plus in the hot weather (sometimes pouring rain). The biggest down side is that they only let us use the campus entrance and never the street facing one which is ground level so it's not really accessible for people who need accommodations.

It is a great hall, and good location. This year has I am sure been different then other years and common areas couldn’t be used as they usually would do to Covid. I like the kitchen in the basement and washer and dryer availability. It needs a little updating but overall has been a great experience.

Busy building with lots of friendly people. Facilities are well kept and the staff and RAs are super nice and professional. The look of the halls is nice but can be a bit boring. Carpeted floors and spacious rooms are very nice.

I really enjoyed living here. Unfortunately, there is only one entrance or exit while the other dorms have two. It is close to the dining hall and the Starbucks at Olmsted. Overall I have really enjoyed living here even with COVID restrictions.

All the residents and staff in Stalnaker Hall are friendly and helpful. The cleaning staff aren't overly friendly and they don't do the best job every day cleaning the bathrooms. While I can't hear through my dorm walls, I can hear any noise in the hallway, as my doors are thin and allow sound to travel through them. The air vents also carry sound from surrounding rooms.
