Barrett Hall Dorm Reviews at Earlham

I really like Barrett Hall, but there are some things that aren't always amazing. For example, some of my roommates are pretty loud at night despite our quiet hours, but that isn't something that the college has to deal with, and I haven't specifically mentioned it to my RA so that is my issue at the moment. Also, my roommate and I's clothes have been burned some from the dryers even though we had our temperature set to low and delicate (cold). But other than that, I absolutely love Barrett! The dorms are awesome and conveniently located in my opinion.

Barrett Hall is pretty nice! The dorms are bigger than I thought they would be, and it's much more peaceful than I expected. At the beginning of the school year you have a "meeting" with the other people on the floor to decide when quiet hours will be. This was really nice because a lot of us are athletes with morning practice and we were able to start quiet hours earlier than most, but also end them earlier than most.

During my time at Barrett Hall, I overall enjoyed my experience. Unlike many of my friends from high school, I truly experienced the "dorm life" with communal showers, a kitchen, and living in a small room with a roommate that I never met prior. Although I was thankful that I had the dorm hall with air conditioning, that does not remove the faults that came with Barrett. The thin walls made it easy to hear everything your neighbors had going on. The two showers limited the number of people able to take showers after sports or long days. The laundry room with only 2 washers and 2 dryers created long lines of people waiting to get their clothes cleaned on weekends. With all these faults, Barrett Hall provided a fun and welcoming environment full of a diverse group of freshmen.

Barrett Hall is a fairly quiet dorm building with diversity in all aspects. There are students from all over and from all backgrounds that it is enjoyable to learn about others' experiences while on campus. I have enjoyed living in Barrett Hall for the past semester and through the current semester.
