New Residence Hall 1 Dorm Reviews at Embry-Riddle

My experience in New Res Hall 1 was very comfortable. Sharing a bathroom with 3 other roommates, there was more than enough space with double vanities, separate shower room, and separate toilet area. The biggest downfall is that the rooms are very small and can barely fit 2 people. Due to the college accepting too many students, creating triple rooms in New Res 1 is seemingly impossible to squeeze 3 individuals into one small room that barely fit 2 beds and 2 desks.

New Res 1 is the perfect place to have quiet for studying as well as having a social life. The rooms are clean and maintenance team is wonderful. New res 1 is like a special community filled with supportive people who work to make your college dorm experience special. The study rooms are perfect for quiet studying and the common areas are perfect for going and meeting some of your soon to be best friends! Out of all the dorms at Embry Riddle I would definitely choose New Res 1 again!

New Res 1 is pretty close to the main part of campus. It's a 10-minute walk from the majority of class buildings (COAS, COE, COB, etc.), and boundless is like a 3 or so minute walk depending on where in the building you are located. The student bridge is also right there near the entrance, so if you want to print something or go to the convenience store you don't need to cross Richard Petty (which is kinda dangerous). It's pretty nice since it is one of the newer res halls, but half the washing machines are broken and there's always trash everywhere. There are study rooms on every floor that have a tv and a table and couches, so you can study in there late at night. There's also the common areas where you can watch tv/play games. Overall, pretty nice dorm on its own.

It is a very nice hall with nice people in authority. The environment is very conducive for learning. The students there are studious. New Residence Hall 1 and New Residence Hall 2 are each a five-story facility, each wing of the building has a lounge, study room, and laundry room. For New Residence Hall 1 half of the ground floor has been designed for community spaces with pool tables, TVs, study area and vending machines. New Residence Hall 2 includes a ground floor food court. There is a courtyard equipped for recreation and relaxation with basketball and sand volleyball courts, hammocks, BBQ grills, tables and umbrellas and wireless internet are just steps away from these two facilities. Four students share a two-bedroom suite, two students per bedroom.

The architecture of New Residence Hall 1 is what caught my eye as a freshman at Embry-Riddle. The design fits right in with the rest of the campus. It looks great inside and out. The staff maintain the halls each day. Even though the noise levels can reach a peak during the late hours of the night, you get used to it as a freshman.

New Residence Hall 1 is brand new. It is more expensive, but it is a nice first place to stay. It is close to food places and not too far from classes. There is parking, but it can fill up quickly. I would recommend living here.

I have lived in different Dorms around Embry-Riddle (Daytona Campus), like New Residence 2 and O'Connor Hall and in my opinion New Residence 1 has the best spot on campus for two reasons: 1. The walking distance to almost everywhere is relatively close compared to the others, and 2. For car owners, you are likely to find more parking spots available that are close to the dorm's main entrance. New Residence 1 is also the best dorm because of the modern-looking common area on the 1st floor (with a pool table and ping pong table) and multiple study rooms around the building.

I stayed in New Res1 during my first semester fro college and I had a very good experience. All the RA's were welcoming, the building was quite clean too. I met a lot of people in the building and we have gotten closer over the semester.

My experience in New Residence Hall 1 has been a blast and the staff were very helpful and kind to everyone, the place is clean some parts of the area are dirty the stairs but its mostly Clean and organized.

I lived on campus for my first semester. There were three other students who shared the suite with me. As females, we did have some drama while living together. The air condition was part of the main issue. The AC is very near to one room, and it tends to make that room very cold/hot. The hall is very noisy at night due to some groups of students came back late from their parties at night.

Overall I like it. The view of the speedway and the airport is amazing. The only downside is one of the runways is very close and aircraft can be loud some mornings. Likewise, the toilets are somewhat louder than normal toilets and can be an issue sometimes. It is close to my classes and the student union and it also has parking nearby.

The showers make some weird noises other than that everything is great. The walls are also very thin so you can hear the other rooms very easily. Due to covid the big spaces are closed so its hard to say how useful they are.

Centrally located near classrooms and dining halls, this is a newer dorm with high ceilings so you do not feel claustrophobic in the sleeping area. Four people share a bathroom which is cleaned weekly by the university.

The noise level in this dormitory building is very high because the walls are very thin. The maintenance is very poor more than often the elevators are broken down requiring everyone to use the stairs.

So far I have had a good time at new res 1 and so far there hasn't been any problems, but the maintenance workers only clean your toilet if you let them otherwise your on your own for cleaning. Finally, I don't know if it's because of covid but the common areas are extremely somber and boring, they have pool tables and table tennis but you have to bring your own balls, paddles, and pool sticks.
