Lakeview North Dorm Reviews at FIU

I will say that the staff is for the most part on point. The RAβs for the most part take you seriously. We called maintenance one night and they were at our door first thing the next morning. There have been a few instances of some unsavory items left in the hallway, which remained in the hallway for days. Iβve had to file multiple noise complaints, which were taken seriously. If you live in a 4-bedroom private suite, expect to live with athletes there on scholarship (who are obliviously loud, so keep that in mind. Common areas are for the most part kept clean, but are very nice. Itβs a very safe environment, as a relatively small, black, gay female I can say that there was never a moment when I felt unsafe.

Lakeview North was an amazing experience for a first-year dorm. I had a private bedroom with a shared common area and a bathroom with three other people. The room was large and came furnished, the bathroom was above par, and the common areas were large. The staff was friendly and willing to help and the maintenance crew arrived within 2 days of a report being made.

I think Lakeview is one of the best dorms to move into as a freshman. You get your own room and share two sinks with four other roommates and share one bathroom and shower with a small residential kitchen. You also have a communal kitchen that the whole floor has access to.

It was like any other dorm, you feel annoyed by rules and just like you are still in highschool for it...Meaning, no pets, if too loud you get complaints, you can't have friends over and sleeping there if they don't live in the building as if it is not like it is you paying for it. Just ultimately so stupid

Lakeview North is the dorm for first-year students, this is my first semester here (transferred from Polk State). If you're a person that loves peace and quiet then this dorm will work for you as it's constantly quiet throughout the day and night. If you prefer some background noise while working then there are plenty of seating areas provided outside, and Lakeview Hall is located right near Green Library and the Graham Center, with many more seating options available. The staff is super nice and helpful if you have questions about what resources are available to you or if you have a question about how to get somewhere on campus. Since FIU is big on safety, I can't say much about the common areas since they're closed due to COVID. However, from what I could see from the outside, they seem relatively small for the number of people in each hall. The dorm is very clean, and the maintenance is excellent. The only problem with our room personally is that the sink had a leaking pipe, but FIU is quick to respond to any requests so that wasn't much of a problem. Finally, the bathrooms are very small, especially for four people. I quickly got over that though because they do provide a lot of shelves to store towels, soap, etc. Also, I was expecting to have to keep the showers short for hot water, but the water runs hot for a long time, and the water pressure is amazing.

The experience at Lakeview North has been great so far. I just wish that the bathrooms were renovated more. The physical dorm is very comfortable and I feel safe here at the dorm. Safety was very important to me and my family so I give that 4/5 stars.

I truly believe I chose the perfect first-year dorm for myself! The resident assistants are incredibly caring and helpful, making it extremely easy to live comfortably at Lakeview North! Although living here can be quite expensive, I do believe it is worth it!

I enjoyed living in Lakeview North, for the most part. When we first moved in, we had problems with the toilet, it wouldn't flush properly. One of the doors to the bedrooms made a loud squeaking noise when you opened it. And the bathroom light would keep going out all semester. But when we brought these issues to housing, they were all resolved within a couple of days. Only major downside was how thin the walls were. I could literally hear my neighbors conversations, even when they weren't yelling.

It was a very good experience overall with its bad detractors of course, but as a freshman I really enjoyed the experience in general, even though my roommates might not have been the best and it was also very good in terms of expenditures. The dorms were really good and I really loved how they had the private bedroom option which not a lot of colleges have. It proved to be so much valuable and helpful for me as a person who is super worried about his personal belongings to be shared with a completely unknown individual and my biggest fear turned true when I met my roommates.
