Couch Hall

2 Reviews

At Hendrix, none of the dorms stand out like couch. Couch does not have any fancy equipment or technology in its common areas-it truly inspires social events that would otherwise not be taking place in any of the other halls. Because the common area is so large, most of the residents can hang around all at once (hence the large amount of noise at all times). The kitchen, laundry room, and one of the 1st floor bathrooms are also linked with this common area, making it a very versatile space to socialize. The rear exit from the common area opens to an ampitheater where the hall's yearly concert (staffed and performed by the residents) takes place. By living in couch hall, you become part of a family that encourages you to step past your anxieties and embrace the social aspects of life that don't entail technology. Now then, getting to overall functionality-the rooms are the same size as any of the other dorms (unless if you get into a triple like I did). The internet connectivity is quite good, so doing homework or chilling on YouTube wont be a hassle. The common bathrooms are very well upkept and clean, plus the water pressure in the showers is the best on campus (especially on the 1st floor). The dorm features multiple interior and exterior stairwells, so mobility between floors is great. The physical location of the dorm is very nice, as it is the 2nd closest to the lunchroom, and 3rd closest to the main math/science buildings, although it is a long haul to the library and the chapel/auditorium. All in all, I would highly recommend this dorm to any new incoming freshmen to our college. more
