Willow Dorm Reviews at ISU

The hallways are poorly lit and the stairways are cramped. The elevator takes forever but there is a bridge way that allows you to get to the cafeteria fast and easy. It is quiet most of the time but the residents in the room above mine always seemed to be moving their furniture at night.

My experience at Willow, Schafer so far has been excellent. I am the treasurer of my floor and have met so many new people who I believe will be lifelong friends of mine. The workers here are always friendly and very easy to talk to, even with covid. The safety precautions taken by Iowa State and all the staff here have been exemplary. The students in my residence are very caring about covid and everyone does their best to be safe, but also have a freshman year we all enjoy. The activities put on here have been spectacular when considering all the hardships the providers have to face when making the events. All in all, Willow is an amazing place to live for my first year in college. I even have the privilege of parking my car just outside of Willow. The only drawback is Willow is a little far from the central campus and it can be a very cold walk. The good thing is Iowa state has a very good bus system so walking when the weather is bad is not a major concern. Willow has provided me a safe fun place to live for the last few months. I have met life long friends here and have learned more than I could have possibly imagined. I will never regret living in Willow hall my freshman year.

We are close in proximity to a dining hall and do not have to leave the building to access it which is wonderful when the weather is bad. We have air conditioning, but it does run constantly with no ability to turn it off when the temperature drops until they switch the whole building to heating. The water in the sinks has a sulfuric smell and you must go all the way around the floor to access the water fountain.
