Hewett and Manchester Halls Dorm Reviews at ISU

I had a great experience at Hewett, even with covid. Everything was clean and quiet. Elevators were fast and always easy to get. Staff was always helpful. Perhaps the only downside were terrible carts for moving in and out. These were not big boxes like you see at most universities, these were just pieces of wood on small wheels.

My RA was really cool and knew how to communicate issues well. I found that experience was good, but the showers sucked. I recommend a single dorm room as well. I prefer my own space, but having a roomie was a good way to make a friend.

Overall, the Manchester and the Hewett Halls have great dorms. Arguably, they have the best dorms on campus. The only problem is that they are away from the dining halls which can get pretty annoying during the winter. However, Hewett and Manchester have a Subway down on the main floor so it's not too bad.

Hewett and Manchester Halls are fantastic and the staff is amazing. There are some problems with heating/air conditioning not working properly. I would definitely recommend Hewett and Manchester Halls to others.

It is by far one of the best dorms to live in at Illinois state university. It's not too far away from the dinning center. But you will need to take a bus in order to get to stores and other shopping areas if you do not have a car.

Hewett RA’s are nice and very welcoming. My RA gave snacks to people on the floor which was very considerate. The atmosphere is very cozy and relaxing, it feels like home. I’ve met some enthusiastic and nice people at Hewett and Manchester Halls which made my first year of college feel more at ease.

The halls were in an optimal location on campus. They were close to the library and the quad. The only downside was that it was 2 blocks away from the dining hall. Those living in Watterson towers have an easier access to the dining hall. The heaters don’t tend to work as great as those in Watterson. I’ll recommend get more blankets or a heater.

Living in Hewett Manchester is comfortable and it is a lot less crowed than Watterson. In the basement is the tutoring center and a computer lab. Honestly the only down side is that you have to leave the dorm to go to the dining hall.

I really enjoyed my experience at Hewett, I lived here my Freshman year and I loved having my roommate and walking from the dorms to campus because it was very close. I also loved having the Vromman Center in the basement. This was a great space to escape my room and study and even get tutoring when I needed it.

As a freshman, this is my first dorm experience and although things are different due to the current pandemic circumstances, I am still really enjoying my experience. I have met people on my floor and really enjoy all of the ideas my RA has. It has been a fun experience so far even though not all the opportunities are available. The dorms have been pretty clean as they clean the bathrooms and stuff twice a day and it has been relatively quiet with no noise issues.

As a transfer student, I felt that it was important for me to live in a dorm my first year attending Illinois State University. I was a little nervous because I never lived far away from home. Overall, I would rate my experience in the dorms pretty well because my roomate and fellow floor friends are all so nice.

Overall a great experience. Some floors are louder than others. Bathrooms are what you would expect, somewhat dirty but not awful. The housing services created different "themed" floors depending on interests or majors so take advantage of that if there is a theme that interests you.
