Hutchens House Dorm Reviews at MSU

I love this dorm definitely one of the best houses on campus. Wonderful location plenty of parking opportunities and the dining hall is connected to the building. I have met some of my best friends living here in this apartment style dorm room. Very spacious and well kept up.

I enjoyed hutchens. It is a suite style dorm with a kitchenette and a full bathroom. The unit i stayed in had an old ac unit and the air never turned off and the heat never turned on. There are no vents in the bathroom so beware of mold. The windows do not open fully (on purpose) The two person suites do not have dining tables but the four person suites do. In the basement there is a computer lab, a music room, couches and a tv, vending machines and a kitchen. The 8th floor has free laundry and an app to track the cycle of whatever washer and dryer you’re using.

Hutchens had a very nice layout for new incoming students or those wanting to return once again. Having areas to work on homework was a plus during finals time. I would recommend Hutchens to all students coming to Missouri State University because it is one of the nicer housings offered and it teaches students how to live on their own.

Mostly positive, besides from the expenses, pretty rundown bathrooms, and noisy neighbors who play music loudly. The bathroom needs better lighting as it's hard to see in the shower, but for the most part it is clean. The food staff are all very nice at Garst.

The 4 person suite rooms are very nice sized! I’ve always felt safe and at home while living here. The only issue I’ve had is when you put in a work order, it takes forever for someone to fix it. Overall, it has been great.

My neighbors play loud music a lot and the bathroom is super dim especially in the shower, but overall the dorm is quiet and clean and I enjoy being connected to a dining hall. The rooms are also pretty big and the dorm is clean for the most part.

As a former athlete as Missouri State, we were required to live in Hutchens House on campus our first two years. The dorms were the latest and greatest on campus and I was incredibly fortunate to have had the experience I did during my time living on campus. The Hutchens dorms were set up suite-style, where each suite had two rooms, a common area/kitchen and a bathroom. Each room allowed two students. I was absolutely astonished at the newness, cleanliness and modernization of the dorms when I moved in. Most college students don't have the positive experience that I did and I consider myself extremely fortunate. My three roommates and I were easily able to grow our relationships with each other as well as gain new friendships with the other athletes in our dorm. My favorite part of living in the dorms was how easy it was to interact with fellow athletes and relax or study.

The amenities at Hutchens are a good beginning experience and are easy to adapt to. The suite-style rooms are much more comfortable than a room-style dorm, and are very easy to make your own. Though common areas are lacking, I would say that’s my only main complaint.
