Cartmell Hall Dorm Reviews at MSU

Cartmell is one of the oldest and most run-down dorms at morehead. There is talk of tearing it down. Nothing ever functions correctly and no one really wants to be housed here. Elevators break constantly and leave all 16 floors to take the stairs.

Cartmell Hall was originally not the dorm room we wanted. Initially, we wanted a four-person room. However, that wound up not working out for the better and we got placed at Cartmell. I personally really enjoy Cartmell, my roommate and I have an adequate amount of space, it's closer to class building compared to some of the others, and the shower pressure is amazing. I wished the bottom of the showers got cleaned, but I don't think they do simply because there has been a half tube of toothpaste that has been in the same spot in there for over a week now, and in one of the shoes, there is a bandaid on the wall that has been there since the fall semester of 2020. However, other than that I feel Cartmell is great, especially for incoming students.

Mostly positive but it’s old and sort of rundown. The elevators are sort of scary and everything is a bit shabby but the price is good for it and it is a decent building to live in. Not the best but certainly not a bad dorm.

Cartmell hall is in need of updating. It is never surprising to find out that the elevators aren’t working or there is an issue with the bathrooms. The bathrooms, although cleaned regularly, always seem dirty.

Cartmell hasn’t been bad, we feel safe and haven’t had any issues. Move in day was easy, they did a great job especially considering the pandemic. We do wear our masks at all times until we enter our dorms. I do think the elevators need updated.

I feel extremely safe in this dorm, and the bathrooms are always clean. There has never been a time where i have had to complain about anything. I have never had anything break, but my roommate has and they fixed her issue within the week.

My experience so far has been interesting, there has been two fire evacuations in within a week. The elevators are broke most of the time and the halls is a 24/7 quiet zone but people do not seem to mind that.
