Douglas Houghton Hall Dorm Reviews at MTU

Walking into to Douglas Houghton Hall feels like walking into a corridor of Hogwarts. The old wood paneling of the 3 story building provides an old world feel to the building. The halls are usually quiet and the common areas have cozy furniture and fireplaces perfect for the cold of winter. While the general feel of the dorm is cozy the rooms are smaller than other dorms on campus which makes creativity key in utilizing the space. The communal bathrooms while always clean do leave something to be desired. The bath houses of some campgrounds in the area are honestly superior in set up. That being said once you adjust to them they aren't really that bad. The dining hall in DHH is only open for breakfast and lunch on weekdays which does mean you have to walk to dinner at one of the other halls on campus which is not fun in the winter. But the food is far superior in DHH and the staff is extremely friendly. The atmosphere of DHH is spectacular but if you like your space I would consider looking elsewhere.

It is a very nice dorm. The dorm has a great location it is a 10-minute walk to all the class halls. The dorm is a little old but I am very satisfied with it. The age makes the building very cool and it has character.
