Havigurst Hall Dorm Reviews at Miami University

I was in Emerson hall for the first month of school and for various reasons my experience was awful so I moved to Havigurst and it is a MUCH better dorm. It's not perfect but it's definitely one of the better dorms on campus. The biggest complaint I would have would be the fire alarms that constantly go off (a lot of times at 3 in the morning).

Havigurst is a mediocre dorm in an excellent location. The rooms are fairly small, with only about four feet of floor space in between the beds if they are both up against the wall. It is definitely a good idea to have plenty of decorations taking up space on the wall because the yellowish paint color can be nauseating. The common areas are not good, with old raggedy couches, poor appliances in the kitchen, and broken rec-room tables. The location is good however, with a dining hall only about 50 yards from the back door. Even though western campus seems far from the rest of campus, it is a fairly central location between north quad and south quad.

My experience at Havighurst Hall was positive overall, mainly because of the people I met there. It's a traditional style dorm, so not fancy and renovated like some of the other dorms on campus, however that doesn't stop it from being a fine place to live. My biggest issue was the distance from buildings my classes were in. Luckily, it's right next to Western dining hall, so if that happens to be your favorite place to eat, you're in luck!

Fun place to live. Located next to several open areas used for sports and activities. One of the main dining halls is located steps away. This dorm is on the edge of campus, but not too far of a walk from anything. Host the Sports and Athletic Life and Learning Community. This is a beautiful spot on campus.
