Hart Dorm Reviews at Murray State

Hart is very good in its own right with many of the staff, common areas, and its location in the center of the residential size of campus. However, It is not the cleanest, and we have had many problems with the water and heat occur, as well as a staff member or two that is not too helpful

I live on the fourth floor of Hart, and I can speak from experience that maintenance on this building is the absolute worst. Despite putting in two work orders on the non-functioning dryer, it still does not work: the heating elements come on, but the air does not blow through fast enough for clothes to dry, leaving lint and humid air in the dryer even after three tries. The boiler in the building died in early November (though it was likely before that, since they waited until early November to turn the heat on in the building), and as maintenance was not able to replace/repair it, they determined that there would be no heat through the end of the semester. The water heater died in the middle of the semester for the better part of 36 hours, and they did not announce this unless you complained about it to the front desk. The wireless internet is and always has been unstable and difficult, with myself not being able to connect to it on four or five different devices and, during the few times it does connect, having it randomly disconnect. The maintenance on this building is horrendous, and second to that is communication about what's going on in the building. They fail to announce fire drills, and routinely have them at 10 o'clock at night. I remember the first fire drill we had, someone was taking an exam in Lockdown browser, and had to take their laptop out with them. As I mentioned before, when the water heater went out, no information was put out, be it the fact that the heater was out or a timeline, leading to an unnecessary amount of questions to the front desk. Hart's location is central to the residential colleges. It's a mere 100-meter walk to the campus dining facility, and is one of the easiest laid-out residential colleges. The rooms are small, but the Internet there is blazing fast, assuming you use wired internet.

My experience so far has been excellent. It was more spacious than expected and I would recommend this dorm to anybody going to Murray State. The other residents/students are very helpful with providing me with help that I needed:
