The Midtown Hotel Dorm Reviews at NU

If you get assigned to the Midtown Hotel as a freshman at NU, especially a room on the 1st floor facing the alley, I'm sorry. This "overflow" housing option a half-mile from campus should be put out of service, especially for the price. First floor rooms are tiny, the bathrooms are old and dirty, and if you back up to the alley, you'll enjoy the smell of pot all day and the sounds of people fighting - and singing - at all hours of the day and night. The rooms are sweatboxes and random parkers in the hotel garage have access to the hallways, which doesn't feel safe. The worst part is the isolation - you are far from campus, have no natural spaces to interact with your classmates, and can't even put a whiteboard on your door to communicate with other students. It's nothing like a typical first-year dorm experience.

It is a bit farther away from campus compared to freshman dorms. Although we were provided a "pop-up" dining hall past fall, they are removing it permanently making it harder to get food that is close in proximity to our dorm.

Great location, easy access to everything Boston. Not fancy but does the trick. People were fantastic, parking easy, cheap parking fee compared to others downtown. U need on sight parking in Boston, no street parking anywhere over night. Great deal over all

The Midtown does come at expense of a bit of a walk to campus, but it allows for private living experience and a bathroom for freshmen. The rooms are also very spacious and there's the possibility of queen beds

I have lived here for a full semester as a freshman at Northeastern University. There are tons of pros and cons, but I think the pros outweigh the cons. My least favorite thing about the Midtown is the maintenance issues. Our air conditioning, sink, and wifi have all broken so far. However, there are tons of advantages to living here. The location is my favorite thing about the hotel. It's around a 10 minute walk from the main campus, and is right in the hustle and bustle of the city. The Prudential Center is only a 5 minute walk, and there are tons of grocery stores and coffee shops nearby. Overall, I've thoroughly enjoyed living at the Midtown Hotel this semester!

In general, it has been great. For every room, there is a bathroom. The common space is small though. It is a 15 mins walk from the main campus. The dorm is clean. Some rooms have some very good views.

The cleanliness is questionable sometimes, some rooms have found mold and mildew in the bathrooms. Also the walk to classes can be quite far since the hotel is not on campus, but I like the big beds and personal bathrooms.
