Rubin Hall Dorm Reviews at NYU

Everyone that didn't live in Rubin complains that there is no AC but everyone who lived there couldn't care less. Sometimes it was too hot, but we bought fans or hung out in the air conditioned 2nd floor lounge. It's about 5 minutes from campus which is amazing for early classes, and some of the classes may even be in the building on the first floor. The vibe and community is the best out of all of the dorms and the fact that it about half the price of every other Freshman dorm helps too.

Rubin Hall was the best way to immerse yourself as a freshman. It, hands down, was the best dorm to meet new people and make friends. Although it wasn't as modern/fancy as some of the other residence halls that NYU offers, it's a much cheaper price.

Rubin Hall is the cheapest dorm at NYU so, naturally, it isn't going to be as nice or good-looking as Lipton or Brittany hall. However, the common room on the third floor is good place to study if you don't want to travel to a study center, the bathrooms are decent, and the space isn't too cramped. It's a good low cost dorm for freshman looking for a college experience in nyc on a budget.

Pre war dorm with no AC and very old building feel but on the 16th floor facing 5th ave the view is beautiful and it is close to WSP and not too far from Union which is very convenient. The people and community are great even though the building itself is pretty rusty.

My time at Rubin Hall was very good! It is the lowest rate housing available as a freshman attending NYU, meaning it does not have the nicest facilities compared to others. There is no accompanying food hall, no gym, little study spaces, moderately sized common areas, and ok staff. However, what it lacks in those areas it makes up with the people that live there and it's location. It is the closest hall to both union and Washington square parks, making it the most equal distant dorm room in Greenwich village. The residents are all very nice to talk to whether be in the elevator, study room, lounge, or even the entrances/exits of the building. I felt at home and in a community that was accomodating to me. Make sure to join the resident hall chats and groups as you get a lot of information and ways to connect to people in your hall. This is especially necessary for Rubin, given its lack of high-end communal areas. Regardless of the pitfalls, I would highly recommend Rubin Hall to those who are seeking low-cost on-campus housing at NYU!

The community is amazing at Rubin! Probably the friendliest dorm, very easy to make friends, especially since the air-conditioned common room is usually packed with students. The beginning summer months are difficult without air-conditioning, but usually owning a fan is enough to make it through.

Sometimes it is hard to concentrate because of all that is going on. Although it can get. very distracting, everyone at the hall is like family, we built a bond. I consider a lot of people in this hall my friends. we all struggle together and get pass college together. Most residence look like me in which they are black and experience the same things I have experienced or witness. I think that it is important for the future of black intelligence.

Living at Rubin was a top-notch experience. The common area of the second floor was always bustling, open, and full of amenities which I believe is necessary in cultivating an environment for making friends. This is especially important for a first-year dorm, when the transition into college life can be so difficult.
