Owen Hall Dorm Reviews at Purdue

It was an OK residence Hall; I felt safe and there was a bus stop right outside that went to all major buildings. However it is very outdated and the washing machines rarely worked well. There was also no A/C which was terrible in 80-90 degree weather.

The door was not air conditioned, but that really only mattered in August. Overall, the common area was a nice air conditioned place to study. It never was too crowded and we could always find a big table open for larger groups of people.

It was great. The location was close to many places that I wanted/needed to go. A dinning hall was right across the road, and the walk to my classes was at most ten minutes. The recreation center on campus was also a short walk, too.

You can hear everything going on in the hallway. They have a nice lounge area with a ping pong, pool, and foosball table. The bathroom can be a little cross sometimes; there have been roaches in the bathroom!

Owen has a bad rep because it isn't air-conditioned, and it's old. But I don't think it's all that bad, you only have to deal with the heat for a few weeks, and the location is right next to Slayter hill, where you can listen to the different events going on there.

Owen Hall is very affordable, however you get what you pay for. If you come in knowing what to expect, then you will likely enjoy your time here. An overall fun experience for freshman looking to meet people an live among a friendly community.
