Barr Hall Dorm Reviews at Rutgers

During my time there, I realized the building smelled really musty, There was a slight mold infestation, but the staff handed it accordingly. The noise at times was loud in the common areas but I was lucky enough to have my dorm on the opposite side of it. It was conveniently placed near the dining hall which for me is a plus. I would definitely recommend it for anyone majoring in engineering as it is in Busch.

I lived on the 4th floor of Barr which wasn’t that bad but there was quite a few instances of nastiness. Barr hall is a coed dorm but every floor is different. 1st floor is boys, 2nd is honors coed, 3rd boys, and 4th girls. In the first 3 months of the whole hall people were leaving bananas,apples, bread slices, and American cheese in stair ways, light shades, hall ways, and lounge areas. Either it would be rotten or fresh and some even threw on stairwell walls. I feel like RAs didn’t really do anything about it considering it’s a freshmen hall but still. In the communal bathrooms the girls on my floor would leave hair in the shower train even when I asked politely to clean up after themselves like adults in our 4th floor group chat. But instead moved the hair with the drain in another shower stall.

It wasn't the worst experience ever. The bathrooms are communal, which is fun for no one. Personally, my roommate and I had a broken air conditioner that leaked for a week before someone fixed it. The water seeped into the carpet and mildew grew. We also had an ant problem somehow, living on the second floor, but that was swiftly taken care of too. Located in an okay part of Busch.
