The Alcalá Vista Apartments Dorm Reviews at USD

The buildings of the Alcala Vista Apartments are set up so well, so it is easy to navigate between buildings if you have friends in other buildings. My neighbors are so considerate and I have had an overall good experience here.

Living at the Vistas was one of my favorite living setups while at USD. Being that it is an on campus housing option exclusively for second year students, you are surrounded by hundreds of your piers all roughly the same age. Everyone in the Vistas was placed in a two bedroom / two bathroom apartment that was very spacious and comfortable but a few years out of needing renovations. Every week there would be gatherings held in the common areas (i.e. cookies on Fridays, featured movies in the common area, faith groups, etc.). The Vistas were perfectly situated right by the tennis courts, pool, and gym, so whenever I needed a break from school work, it was very easy to get out and exercise.

This place it not too bad to live in, especially for sophomores in college. Although, I did live there during Covid so the circumstances may change for next year. My friend did get her bike stolen once in the courtyard and public safety did not really do much so that may be the only reason why I do not feel as safe.

It has been really nice living in the apartments and having our own kitchen and bathrooms. The area is nice too and it's just up the hill from the center of campus, so it let's you feel a little farther away while still being right on campus.

Beautiful building and gorgeous scenery but at the top of the hill. Thus, it’s a long walk to the campus and noisy to walk along the street. The dorms themselves are way too small for four people but work well for just two. I’m too tall for the shower but the other shower has a bath.
