The Bricks and Joe West Hall Dorm Reviews at SJSU

I love the layout of Joe West, there are 6 bathrooms on each floor. I'm glad I chose this dorm because there is a sense of community. It's easier to meet new people here compared to the other dorms because in the others there are more people on a floor.

It has been pretty nice. There have been times where people have been loud or the bathrooms were dirty but overall even through COVID it hasn’t been bad. It’s just harder because we don’t have roommates and we can’t go into each other’s rooms but it’s still nice.

I loved being able to leave my dorm and go outside to the common area to relax with other people. That lets me be social when I want and when I don’t want to. Joe West is on campus meaning it only takes 10-15 minutes at most to get across to the furthest classroom if your late.

I had the best time at the Bricks. I met so many people and felt safe while I went there in 2004. My RA and I are still friends so many years later. Living in the dorms set the stage for college and I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

I lived on the art floor of the building and the community was extremely nice. Our common area was spacious and had plenty of furniture. The cleaning staff was always friendly and they did a good job of keeping the bathrooms clean.

I stayed on the 12th floor of Joe west and I met my best friends there. I would highly recommend trying to live on a themed floor. If you are Black definitely try to live on the 11th floor. I would also recommend trying to go to as many club/social events as possible. The more events the more well rounded you become.
