South Carrick Hall Dorm Reviews at UTK

South Carrick Hall is an extremely social dorm. Everyone is extremely friendly especially the RA's. The room itself is an average dorm room. It is not the most clean when you first get here, but with a little cleaning and decoration it is extremely homey.

Is was pretty dirty at first but once you clean the space looks nice! It is close to the food court, the library, and very accessible for other resources! Great rates for the dorm, only 3k. I would improve on the black mold possibilities, 4/5.

South Carrick Hall is not a bad place to live. On its best day it is spacious and well-organized. It is a very big building and is run very well. However, I personally was effected by the mold growing in the vents and the flooding of my unit. The building is very old but you and your roommates will forever be bonded by your trauma.

Freshman year I lived in South Carrick in Prez Court. It was great because it shared the quad with other dorms and was close to everything, such as the dining hall and convenience store. I liked it because it was also close to Rec Center and fields for intramurals. Prez Court could get rowdy every once and awhile with everyone there; but the dorms themselves were pretty quiet. Great experience making friends first year.

These dorms are small and quite old, but overall they arent bad. Probably good for a first year student, since they are good for creating friend groups and meeting new people. They have fun events where you can win prizes often.

I love south Carrick and have had a lot of good experiences here. Whenever we have a problem maintenance is right there. The staff is very friendly and everything is very easy to access. the common areas are super nice especially the kitchen.

South Carrick is an older Dorm at UTK, but I felt it gave a great college experience. I was able to live in a safe, and clean environment. It was a great location to the gym and food court. It had other dorms around it so it was nice to see other students. It was a smaller and older dorm but I feel like that just added to the college experience. The kitchen on the main floor was not the best, but I only used it one time during my freshman year. Overall I liked living in South Carrick and am glad I did.

South Carrick Hall is probably the worst place to live on campus. There might be a lot of freshman which is good when wanting to meet people, but it is so disgusting and so old it is not good for your health. I have been sick 4 times in one semester and I never get sick. When I would go to the doctor they would always say it most likely had to do with the mold in the dorm. Our showers get moldy every week and we are very clean people. The amount of dust that falls in our room in one day is very concerning and it just needs to be knocked down. It is so old and it was gross when peoples parents lived in there and now it's almost unbearable. Its also disturbing that we pay the same amount to live there as nice dorms... we should get paid to live there it is so bad. I cannot believe the health department allows this type of living for college students. Above I have attached our shower that we have to bleach weekly in order for it to not get worse than this and the maintenance people do nothing. If you are considering to live here... don't!! It is for your health!!

My answers are from my experience during COVID-19. We were not allowed to use the common areas for a while and the housekeeping was also slowed. When the common areas did open up, I used them every day. Carrick is a good place to live, just obviously make sure you have a roommate you think you will get along with nicely.

South Carrick is an older dorm but it great for your first year. Of course, there are better dorms but it is a great size room and there are suite bathrooms. The maintenance could be better because the elevators required a lot of work while I was living there.

Living in South Carrick Hall was one of the best decisions I ever made. I got to live with my best friends and was super close to my classes. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. The only issue I had was sometimes you could hear your neighbors above or beside you.
