Rast Hall Dorm Reviews at UAB

Narrow, humid, low ceilings, and overall it was an alright experience, but it’s definitely the worst of all the dorms at UAB. The common areas were decent, but the whole dorm felt unkept and forgotten about. Not only that but it’s also in a very inconvenient location compared to the other dorms.

My first year at Rast Hall wasn't horrible. The RAs were nice and friendly and the only issues were the fact that sometime big roaches and lizards would bevin the halls of the first floor. Since I did not live on the first floor it didn't bother me muvh. My second year was different. The Halls didn't smell nice and the dorms were filty. With every room I waled in, including the common areas, smell like wet, sweaty carpet and melted rubber. There was blan stains all over my suite, and my room was even work. There was black and brown stuff all on the desks. Hopefully if I live in Rast ever again, it would be better.

Rast Hall is a great option if you're going to be living on campus. The parking deck is close and it's not too bad of a walk from five-points. The dorm itself is a little off-center from campus which means that it is a little bit of a walk to get to classes, but it's not bad at all. I actually preferred the location of Rast compared to all of the other dorms, plus it's closer to the new food areas located in Green Hall that are opening up in the 2021 Semester! It's a 4-person dorm, but I liked the aspect of being able to have a living room, a full kitchen, a half bath, and a bedroom all to myself. It has an apartment vibe to it.
