Dabney Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Cincinnati

Although i made my best friends in Dabney Hall, it was not the cleanest place in the common areas and there’s not much privacy in the rooms. No regrets staying there though, it is a good freshman dorm!

Dabney Hall is known to be the oldest and worst dorm on campus. However, I loved living there. I think the people and the atmosphere made it so much more worth it. As gross as it was, the staff did a good job cleaning up things.

Dabney was known as one of the worst dorms on campus but I tried to stay optimistic about it. During move in, I noticed a hole in the wall and floor (both concrete) and it was never fixed or even looked at although my RA put in an emergent request. We only had one elevator and it was broken a lot and I lived on the 7th floor. We only had one kitchen for the entire building and one common room which was in the lobby so it was never quiet. The bathrooms were cleaned maybe once a week and we had male janitors cleaning the women's restrooms regardless if there was someone in there or not.

You could die in Dabney and even your roommates wouldn't notice. Disgusting. It's loud, stinks, and made the college experience even worse. I can't imagine anything worse, and would rather live off the side of the road for my remaining semester

Furniture just got replaced when I was there (fall 2019). The kitchen is kind of sad. I was in a corner quad which was ideal location-wise relative to the bathrooms and the stairs. My roommates and I had a bad habit of leaving our door unlocked but we never got robbed, so... overall good experience, you may want earplugs.

Cleaning of the floor is very poor and rarely performed and maintenance is rarely performed and if so it takes extremely long to happen. The location and RA’s are very nice. It is nice that everyone on each floor bonds well as it is a social dorm.

Dabney Hall is where I started my first year at The University of Cincinnati this past fall, I really enjoyed the roommates and friends I have made this year although, I did not enjoy Dabney itself. I am on a tight budget and could not afford to be in the nicer dorm buildings. Dabney was not the cleanest and could definitely use some re-modeling and new maintance. Overall, I was thankful to even have a place to stay on campus this year but had a bit of a higher expectation with how much money I was paying.

My experience of being on the eight floor was very difficult. Because there was not a working elevator for students, walking was the only option to get to my room. Being a graphic design student and carrying a toolbox and canvas portfolio everyday, I had to take multiple rests on the way up.
