Redwood Hall Dorm Reviews at UC Davis

The common area and bathrooms were not treated well. It was very messy and loud (until late at night) most of the time. My dorm room was clean though and my roommates were alright; we all got along and did our weekly chores.

Having been here for just a few months, I actually quite enjoy being in this residence hall. It's within the APACH community, which is quite enjoyable with all the events. My RA in particular is amazing, as she plans on average one to two events every week. The noise tends to be fairly low, as people respect the noise policy, and the distance between rooms is nice as sometimes some people are being loud, but I don't tend to hear it from my room. My room in particular is pretty spacious, and has a whiteboard in front, which is nice and helpful when interacting with others. The lounge is so nice and spacious as well. Its open for anyone, though I'll admit the laundry room sucks merely because everyone is always doing their laundry at the same time. The study rooms are so nice though, and have a whiteboard for anyone to use. Overall, it's been a pretty good experience.

It is quiet and clean. But the price being charged during COVID is unreasonable for what they're offering. For safety reasons we had to dorm alone and while they did reduce the price to double-occupancy, they forced students that could only afford triple-occupancy rates to cover the excess charges without any impactful increases to financial aid awards. Many of the resources are also unavailable such as the common areas, recreational residence areas, and study rooms located within the residence halls. Due to COVID there is also a lack of events for the residents even though we are still paying and the same amount of that money is put aside to plan events for residents.

I moved into Redwood Hall on September 2020 and the experience is very different compared to the past years. All of us got single rooms due to the pandemic. Redwood Hall is very quiet and the dorm looks very modern so it doesn't look dirty from the outside and inside. The temperature is always at a good temperature and the CA's and RA's are always setting up events and buying food for the residents which is very kind. The maintenance and cleaning staff clean the bathrooms everyday so the bathrooms always look clean too. Overall, Redwood Hall is a good place to stay in as a first year in college according to my experience.

My experience at Redwood at Tercero is that on the first day everyone is so welcoming, and no one is ever disrespectful. It isn't noisy and the hallways and bathrooms are always clean. The building is modern so it still looks brand new, and to access the laundry room and other important rooms are very easy. It depends on how you handle making friends with the people on the same floor as you. The CA's always say hi to you too.

During my residence at Redwood, there have been various health guidelines enforced and maintained within and around the halls. Common areas were mostly closed but there were still opportunities to participate in activities both online and in socially distant settings. Residence halls were mostly calm but had very social residents who were very welcoming. Cleaning was also taken very seriously and doors and bathrooms were disinfected regularly. Also, measures such as only assigned residents may enter their respective bathrooms and living spaces helped mitigate the spread.
