Sunset Village Dorm Reviews at UCLA

The dorm rooms are very spacious, and the bathrooms are fairly clean. I also like how quiet the area is. I do have one complaint about the room being very dirty when first arrived, but we cleaned it right away. Also, the maintenance was very quick to respond to our service request (We accidentally locked our shower door) which was very nice compared to when I lived in Hedrick Hall last year (I made multiple service requests to fix my light in the dorm and no one ever came, for the entire year).

I enjoyed my time at Sunset Village. It's one of the only dorms at UCLA with air conditioning and it's very close at the bottom of the hill to the rest of the campus. It's also the closest to most of the main dining halls, with the exception one, and is generally well kept and clean. The lounges are not as large as some of the other dorms, but they are rarely busy and so they are a reliably nice place to study. The housekeeping didn't seem to clean much, but they kept the laundry room relatively up to date so machines we never too busy. It only got bad around finals when you'd start to see trash piling up around the trash room. On my last quarter I started dealing with the odd spider in the bathroom, but for the most part, it was a good, if not typically small, dorm.

Very quiet and not very sociable. Staff cleans bathrooms weekly on the same day. If you are a freshman, they will likely stick three people in a double and it will be VERY cramped. If you are above, you'll get a double with no bunks and it is still kind of cramped but very manageable. Being in a triple my first year, we pretty much had to move something any time we wanted to walk to the other side of the room and the setup that they have is SUPER inconvenient because they have the bunk sticking out in the middle of the room and absolutely no floor space. It's hard wood floors which is pretty nice and easy to keep clean. If you have a fridge, there's pretty much no space for it and it will cause the bathroom door to be partially blocked, but it is very manageable. Private bathrooms is such a plus and the weekly bathroom cleaning is awesome. The courtyard is nice and peaceful, but if you're a social butterfly, I probably wouldn't recommend because it's known as the "retirement home."

I really enjoyed living in this dorm building because it was quiet and each room had a private bathroom. My one complaint in general about UCLA dorms is that they are extremely tiny, and if you are living in a triple, that means you barely have any room because you're sharing the space with 2 other people. Other than the lack of space, my experience in this dorm was excellent.

Very beautiful place to dorm in for freshmen students! Loved my experience. Even though due to Covid-19 situations, I had to leave early, I appreciate the people there, the staff there, the lifestyle I experienced, It was very fun and comforting to come home to my dorm and feel at home.

Definitely recommend. I had my own room with my own bathroom. The cleaning people were very friendly and great to talk to. I never had any problem with my neighbors. There was plenty of space for all of my things.

I loved my time in Sunset Village and I shared my room with 2 other students. The room itself definitely had enough space for each of us and there was a private bathroom in our dorm which was nice and kept very clean. The shared laundry facility in the unit is also really handy and the washers/dryers are fixed quickly when broken.

I love how independent I can be while living here. I admire the school culture and the people who live here. Although there are not many activities to do right now, Los Angeles is a beautiful city to live in.

Sunset village is conveniently located near dining areas and the campus mailroom. It is a very quiet location, so you can get a lot of studying done in the area! The rooms are spacious and more comfortable than other dorms.

Very friendly atmosphere and cordial staff. The RAs are fantastic and helpful in any way of assistance. The location is close to campus making walking to classes not terrible. I made a lot of cool friends through different events RAs hosted during the school year.
