East Lothian Dorm Reviews at UC Riverside

East Lothian is a neat dorm to live in. It is pretty close to Glasow Restaurant and Starbucks. The East Lothian Hall is easy to navigate and the bathrooms are kept clean (at least in the women's). It is very spacious living in a double. I would recommend bringing in your own trash can as there are no bins in the room except for recycling as well as a mirror, unless you like sharing. The HUB Plaza is a 10-minute walk from Lothian, so if you don't like to walk I also would recommend bringing a bike or electric scooter. However, I don't have much trouble walking. So far, I enjoy it. All the residential advisors are friendly and willing to help anybody out. I will say though the first day a student moves into their dorm, it is utter chaos, and not enough space for families to fit in one room. So please be as swift and quick as possible.

In my expereince a very quiet, chill dorm. Honestly gave off a bit of a prison vibe but not many dorms that don't here... was largely quiet. Not that many open common areas so if youre extroverted and won't have trouble meeting other people then should be a decent enough dorm. Just a pretty antisocial dorm altogether. Maintenance was meh and bathrooms were pretty good. Showers relatively clean but theyre communal.

I enjoyed my time at East Lothian. Everyone in my hall was very social and became very good friends. I am happy to say that I met some of my closest friends from my hall and my time living in East Lothian. The bathrooms are very nice and big with multiple bathroom stalls. The showers are all separate stalls which are nice and allow for privacy. The only issue I had was that we found a few cockroaches around our hall door and we really couldn't do anything in the moment as the RA on duty could not do anything. We had to send a complaint to maintenance. Maintenance is very nice and quick, often fixing any problem within one or two days. Overall, I really enjoyed my time in East Lothian.

East Lothian is easily the best residence hall offered to Freshmen. With its location being very close to campus, East Lothian provides the best environment for incoming students to adjust to a college lifestyle. The rooms are very spacious when compared to the other residence halls, and there is even a dining hall within the East Lothian building!

Any issues I had with my dorm experience were strictly due to the people around me (having roommates is hard sometimes!). I loved the location, my RA, the room was spacious and comfortable, the furniture was sturdy. Overall, I have no complaints!

It was very well kept it feels like home away from home.It is clean and the people that live there care about the area. The people around there are friendly and it is a safe place to be, everyone gets along with each other.

I loved it. They always put on fun events that I went to frequently. The dining hall always had good options to choose from as well. The only thing about it that was a con was that it was the furthest away from campus.

This fall quarter I had the opportunity to dorm at UCR. I was lucky to get assigned a lower level, I wouldn't have liked walking upstairs. But besides that, my dorm experience was not at all what I expected. The first month it did feel a bit lonely, being that the resident hallways were not at their full capacity. Once in a while I would see other students out and about, on their way to pick up their mobile ordered food (to go). We were also in a two week sequester period, which contributed to the vacancy around campus. For our safety and of others around campus, we were required to take COVID-19 tests twice a week. It did become a bit overwhelming, being that I also had classes, but at the end I felt relieved knowing those tests were negative. It is way different as how alumni described their dorming experience, not at all how I expected, but this is the reality during these unprecedented times.
