Argo Hall Dorm Reviews at UCSD

Argo Hall was a great first year dormitory. The maintenance staff was very friendly and the large common rooms allowed for group bonding amongst me and my dorm mates. The room sizes were pretty average. I lived in a double and me and my roommate both had lots of space to move around.

Argo Hall feels very minimal in its goal of providing a place to stay for students. Argo Hall has bare minimum such as beds, bathrooms, and shower. Everything is shared with multiple people, and nothing really feels private. The bathrooms are not rooms, but stalls in a larger room. Same goes for the showers, which are covered by a blurry, transparent door. The common area is quite small, with furniture that is simply there for looks, as they are not that comfortable. Furthermore, there is one kitchen per floor, so all residents are to share a singular kitchen. The kitchen is not that big, and resides at the center of each floor. There is only one elevator, and the elevator tends to take its time as well.

It is not the cleanest and the bathroom service was not the best. One of the showers stayed broken the entire year even after calling maintenance but the Hall in general is located in a nice spot and it is convenient.

My experience at Argo Hall was probably very similar to everyone elses'. I would ride up to the 5th floor on the slowest elevator and enter into my common room that was pretty much never used. I would then enter my 12' by 8' bedroom that I shared with two other girls. I would almost never have any personal time, but I guess that's something that comes with the normal college experience. Nothing was too bad, everything was just very average.

The first floor lounge is a great place to study and hang out with your friends. Argo Hall is also next to a community lounge where you can silently study, go on computers, or print materials (you need to pay for printing).

Argo Hall is a very nice place to live. Especially right now because there are no roommates. The only issues I have are with the windows - it seems like the bolts are rusted and about to fall off and my suitemate's window-opening handle actually did break. Also they must have old sealing because the seal is letting cold air in and the heating isn't very strong. Besides that, the rooms were clean when I moved in, nothing is broken. The bathrooms and common rooms are cleaned regularly by the very polite staff. The common rooms aren't very big but there are two of them for a nine-person suite so that's okay. I like this hall quite a bit, and there is a very convenient market and dining hall right downstairs. There is also a nice seating area at the bottom. Overall, I would pick this place again if I could.

As a freshman, Argo Hall was a typical dorm experience. The rooms accommodated three people so the space was quite limited. The rooms had nice windows and the there was a small living room for every 3 rooms. The dorms in Argo Hall were suite style and there is a total of six floors for the building.
