Roosevelt Dorm Reviews at UCSD

The dorm rooms are pretty well-maintained, except for the cheap paint on the walls. My floor had a problem with ceiling leaks during intense raining, but I blame that on the age of the infrastructure. Otherwise, the common rooms had some couches, chairs, and tables - perfect for group or solo studying. The décor was originally bland, giving students the opportunity to customize it with posters and whatnot. Windows in the dorms have screens and are secure once locked, except the screens can pop off pretty easy. Desks in the dorms have a pretty good amount of space, shelfing, and drawers to store stuff. There's space under the beds for more storage, especially if you raise the bed height. In the closets, there is a wardrobe unit, a pole to hang clothes, and storage space above that. My one gripe with the closets is that the pole is hung way too low, giving ultimately very little space for the hung clothes to fall. Otherwise, my experience was adequate. The best part of housing at Roosevelt was meeting all the nice people I got to share the space with for less than a year!

It’s a very nice and beautiful scenery. They way everything is makes you feel in love with the place. Even though I’m new I know I’ll get adjusted very fast to the environment. The place is big and very beautiful, clean, and amazing.

Living at Roosevelt was fun in general. I met lots of new people and I really enjoyed the dining hall. The gym was also really close to my residence area so that was definitely a plus. I wish I could live there for all my 4 years

I had a great first two years on campus. It overall had everything I needed and was definitely convenient to live on campus in terms of getting to class. The cleaning staff was great, very friendly, and came frequently to help us clean our housing. The housing situation also encouraged getting to know people, and the RA's that worked in Roosevelt were always planning fun social events to encourage interactions between the individual dorms.

I graduated in 2019 and lived in Roosevelt's (ERC's) dorms during my freshman year and as a R.A. during my senior year. It was such an awesome experience. The walls are extremely thin so you hear a lot of noise from suites above you, but it is a great living community overall. Each suite has usually 16 people in them, and because of this, there is an opportunity to meet new people and make friends. Being the R.A. for Europe hall was my favorite job I have ever had in my life!

The apartment is very clean and nice. There is RAs and staff available if we had questions and concerns. The location is not at the campus center, but is very close to Rady Management School and the RIMAC gym.

Roosevelt is probably one of the better colleges of UC San Diego in terms of location because UCSD is such a big campus. The rooms are nice as well, and I don’t have any complaints when it comes to noise, cleanliness, etc. Some areas on campus are a good walk away, but there is good dining areas closer to ERC and I think residing in the other colleges has longer walks and less options when it comes to short walks for dining. The area directly outside ERC is also a nice spot to relax and hang with friends, even picnic since you can sit on the grass. The laundry area is close by as well.

Roosevelt is very much of an old school design, but I like it. It is very quiet at night and not too complex in architecture. Plus I enjoy the whole global aspect. It really makes me feel like a global neighbor.

As a freshman I had a few issues with my residential hall dealing with termites, then flooding due to the awful rains my freshman year. All of December/January was there puddles inside the dorm and the balcony needing fans to always be on to try to maintain dryness and a piece of the roof fell because of the flooding from above. It was a lot of maintenance issues but overall once those issues were fixed things were good.
