West Residential Building Dorm Reviews at UMass Boston

the West Residential building was very nice. I liked how they included a kitchenette (just an oven no stovetop) and a pool table on the first floor. Each floor had it's own common room, but it was pretty small compared to the ones in the East building. They also included a few study rooms on the first floor which was convenient during exam season.

My experience at West Residential Building was great. I felt safe in the building. There was good security, which included a security officer at the front desk at all times. There was a key scan system so not anyone can just walk into the dormitory areas. They were strict about inviting people, which was good because it shows they care about who they are letting in the building. In terms of how to invite people who don't live in the dorm: you just have to sign them in at the front desk. The people working the front desk were all very kind and nice. They are there to say hello as you leave or come in the building. The dorms were very clean, so nice especially because they were brand new. The furniture is very simple, modern and clean. I love the key scan cards to get into each dorm. It is basically like a hotel, how you would use a card to scan the door open. Very handy when carrying books and stuff to class, I just had my key scan on my lanyard which I wore all around campus, to make it easier to access and get into my dorm. Never had any issues while living in the building. This is the more quiet building compared to East Residential Building. East is also much larger, and right above the cafeteria. But West building is right across the way so it is not far at all! Loved it here. Met great people.

My experience at the West Residential Building was overall excellent. My only major complaints are my control is the occasional smell of weed in the hallway and the inability to change your AC from cooling to heating and vice-versa.
