Hinton James Dorm Reviews at UNC

Clean, fun, safe - but kinda far from classes - however, for socializing it's great - cuz its huge and has so many first years. I wish the bathroom was bigger - 1 shower and 1 toilet for 8 guys is a bit much - and I wish it got cleaned more than 1x week - again, 8 teenage guys... ! but I haven't seen any place I'd rather live

Was definitely a community and very easy to visit friends in the building. Noises from the balcony can be heard in the front 2 rooms but just get a noise machine! I would highly recommend checking for mold especially if your bed is next to the AC unit

My time at Hinton James was very short due to COVID. However, Hinton James is great for first-year students. It is right in between the basketball dome and football stadium. It is far from main campus but you get used to the walk.

My experience at Hinton James was overall really nice, and undertook the proper measures to be clean and safe during the pandemic. The usual downfalls of dorm life were present (shared bathrooms and rooms, etc) but it was a pleasant experience that I would do again. The largest complaint I have is the location, which is a little bit of a walk away from dining halls and university buildings.

My experience at Hinton James was great. It’s such a social dorm and provided me with a great freshman year. It was very livable, and I would recommend it to upcoming freshman. The dorm rooms and common areas exceeded my expectations of what a freshman year dorm would look like.
