🧐 What do students think about the dorms at North Carolina?

The dorm rooms are quite small to be shared, but the good part was the ability to switch roommates if it turned out there was someone you’d prefer sharing a room with over another. Several of my friends, I included, switched roommates without hurt feelings. The common areas were simple and usually quiet. But there was limited availability of desks and windows to stay motivated for such rigorous studies we pursued. Many people ended up studying in their rooms or the library. Yet the close quarters hindered focus due to size and easily becoming distracted by a roommate or things easily accessible. So the library, very far away from the dorm, was the best option. The downside of course was the distance, which didn’t help with motivation to study, and for such a rigorous degree. Overall, it was peaceful form, and most of us got along (granted your fair share of new or accustomed university drama depending on the year you’re in). UNCG is a great school, and that dorm experience doesn’t hinder my current outlook on the wonderful experience of UNCG. more

Cone Residence Hall

I've really enjoyed it because since there are 9 floors you get to run into all types of different people who could potentially become friends with. Also if you are a music/dance major it's perfect because the distance to the music and dance building is great and there are practice rooms in the residence hall. more

Jefferson Suites

Jefferson Suites is a nice apartment to stay in if you go to the University of North Carolina, Greensboro. Aside from the amazing view it has from each room you also get a living room, toilet, and bathroom in each room. it's quiet and neat but most importantly smells refreshing. this apartment is for upperclassmen from sophomore to senior. It's location is amazing and we get to have Bojangles and yum yum just right outside the building. So if you are transferring or applying to UNCG I highly recommend you to check out this amazing suite. And note that each floor has a well-kept kitchen and we also get to have a vending machine on the 5th floor. more

Moore-Strong

My experience at Moore-Strong was great, the hall was fairly quiet most of the time. My room was very clean when I got there, it's a bit small but you can work with it to make there be more room. My R.A. is the best, he makes sure everyone on his hall is doing ok and gives us advice and help with anything we need. Overall Moore-Strong is q good residence hall, only thing is that it's all the way in the back of the campus. more

Weil/ Winfield

I stayed at Weil/ Winfield my first at UNCG. The rooms were very big, I would say that out a lot of the first year traditional style buildings this dorm has the biggest room. I also enjoyed how there is a sink inside of the room, there is not much counter space but it is enough to hold your basic hand soap and oral hygiene. The floors do not have carpet which was a little disappointing but if you get a big enough rug you should be fine. There was a huge parlor on the first first floor with tvs, board games, pool table and piano. There is a secret lounge room on the ground floor that nobody really knows about so its a great place to have a friend movie night or just study. Overall my stay at Weil/Winfield was great. more

North Spencer Residence

This was a good dorm, but some of the residents were loud. The bathrooms were fairly clean, but people would leave their hair on the walls in the showers and the handicap individual bathroom was disgusting. Someone left their finger nail clippings on the windowsill in that bathroom. more

Cotten Residence Hall

Everyone was very friendly, kitchen and common rooms were clean and the RAs were always very helpful. Cleaning staff who work the Quad were super nice and all fixits were handled quickly. Cotten is a part of multiple residence halls called the Quad, lots of events and a fun place to hangout! more

Weil-Winfield

I've been living in Weil-Winfield at UNC Greensboro for a little while now, and it's been a blast! The best thing about it is the awesome people I've met here. My roommates and neighbors have become like family. The sense of community is strong. The location is super convenient too. It's just a short walk to classes and the campus buzz. I've got everything I need right here, from the cozy rooms to the common areas where we hang out and relax. Plus, the staff and RAs have been really helpful and friendly. Living in Weil-Winfield has definitely enriched my college experience. It's not just a place to sleep; it's a place to connect, learn, and grow. I'm grateful for the memories I've made here, and I'm excited to see what the future holds! more

Mendenhall Residence Hall

It's a good building and the rooms are fairly spacious for an on campus dorm there are sinks in the rooms which is a bonus. It's located in a good spot on campus, by the dining hall but far enough away from outdoor events where its not to noisy nor lots of traffic. My only complaints from living here for 3 semesters would be that other people living here are very messy and inconsiderate in the restrooms. The only constant negative thing about this building is that nobody seems to know how to keep a bathroom clean and it always made me feel bad for the staff that cleans the dorms. more

Spartan Village

I stayed in a total of 3 dorms in my 4 years at UNCG and Spartan Village was by far my favorite. It wasn't on campus, so it gives you that feel of being independent and prepares you for living in a private off campus apartment. Even though it isn't on campus, it isn't too far and there was still transportation to get to and from campus. I would recommend this dorm to anyone eligible to live there. more

Location was exceptional, located next to many academics buildings in the heart of campus. It had some old school charm with high ceilings and closets, due to it being the oldest dorm on campus. I highly recommend and loved staying here my freshman year. more

Union Hall

I really enjoy Union hall at Spartan Village. I finally got my own room and the apartments are really bug. The hallways are always clean and quiet. There isn’t anything to complain about I really enjoy it here! Also here’s a picture of the outside of my apartment I love it! more

I wish I could've had a more thorough presentation of this dorm hall, so I wouldn't make the mistake of choosing it. The bathrooms are absolutely horrid and resembles a prison shower-room. This dorm is not worth viewing, I would not recommend at all. more

Coit Residence Hall

Coit was nice considering it was a suite style dorm. However, the décor could've been better and more welcoming. The décor is bland and could use some personalization. On weekend it was louder but usually quiet enough during the week. more
