Graham-Hewlett Dorm Reviews at UNCW

Graham-Hewlett is a co-ed dorm with males on one side of the hall and females on the other; with the exception of the community floor. I stayed on the Hewlett side, and compared to the other dorms that my friends stayed in at UNCW, I was 100% glad that I chose Graham-Hewlett. The location is great, just a short distanced to each dining area, as well as Chancellors walk. I always felt very safe, and my RA was wonderful. The only downfall was the usual of dorm experiences, having to share a bathroom with 3 other people could get a bit dirty, and house-keeping was very loud first thing in the morning, but also very easy to overlook when it comes to comparison with other dorms. You have a room with one other roommate, you share a common room with one other set of roommates, and you all four share one side of a bathroom that is connected to 4 other people, but they have their own side. Overall, my experience was a positive one, and like I said, in comparison to the other dorms at UNCW, Graham-Hewlett is top on the list for freshman.

My experience at Graham-Hewlett was overall very nice. You only share a bathroom with 8 people instead of an entire hall, and the community was very inclusive. It was easy to make friends and the common rooms with your roommates are a big plus.

I enjoyed the layout fo the rooms, it had a common area and it was a suit style so I had a roommate and two suite-mates. We all shared a bathroom. However, it was attached to another suite (they had their own) but you were in the same area. I didn't like how the staff wouldn't clean the best, especially the water fountains since it was a communal area. We didn't have access to water otherwise (only if you bought water bottles personally). Also, the laundry room was never cleaned either and needed maintenance (which never really happened). However, it was a pretty safe dorm since you had a guard stay at the entrance at night, and had to check-in every time you or someone else came in the building. Visitors also had to sign-in and leave by a certain time.
