Brandt Hall

20 Reviews

Overall, I really do recommend it! In terms of Freshman dorms, most VCU students' gun for the GRC building. However, I think Brandt Hall is a much better option. Though there are no kitchens, there suite style rooms which allow for non-communal bathrooms. The building always has people ready to work on any maintenance needs. I put in that my shower was clogged, and the maintenance man came that very day and fixed it. The RAs are very proactive in building community throughout the building by hosting their own weekly events in the 1st floor common areas (i.e.. painting nights, movie nights, game nights, food events, etc.). The dorm feels very safe with security and check-in system, the only times I've felt unsafe was just generally throughout the city itself. Inevitably, VCU is very much a party school, so if you're not a party goer, like me, you may find the fact that your 7-3 other sweet mates might be a bit noisy throughout out some of the nights. Anytime I have talked to the staff, be it the front desk or the mailroom, they've been very nice and accommodating. In terms of furniture if you live on the 8th floor or above you do have really nice and up to date furniture. However, I am no one of those lucky people, my furniture is a bit bulkier and has showing of general wear and tear, but nothing too severe enough to complain about. I cannot speak for the 4 person suites, but the 8 person suits are very spacious and trust me 8 people may sound like a lot, but it's really not. I personally enjoys having 7 other girls around me as it lessens my home sickness as I am out of state. Overall, I think if you're interested in VCU, then don't be so apt to immediately want to move into the most recently built dorm, GRC, thought ones like Brandt are a bit older, they are truly an option worth considering. more

Calm neighborhood with exciting areas to visit. The rooms are quite comfortable, it has a lot of open area like the pool and break room. One of the best thing about it is, it’s close to campus so you can commute from home to school. more
