Brandt Hall Dorm Reviews at VCU

Overall, I really do recommend it! In terms of Freshman dorms, most VCU students' gun for the GRC building. However, I think Brandt Hall is a much better option. Though there are no kitchens, there suite style rooms which allow for non-communal bathrooms. The building always has people ready to work on any maintenance needs. I put in that my shower was clogged, and the maintenance man came that very day and fixed it. The RAs are very proactive in building community throughout the building by hosting their own weekly events in the 1st floor common areas (i.e.. painting nights, movie nights, game nights, food events, etc.). The dorm feels very safe with security and check-in system, the only times I've felt unsafe was just generally throughout the city itself. Inevitably, VCU is very much a party school, so if you're not a party goer, like me, you may find the fact that your 7-3 other sweet mates might be a bit noisy throughout out some of the nights. Anytime I have talked to the staff, be it the front desk or the mailroom, they've been very nice and accommodating. In terms of furniture if you live on the 8th floor or above you do have really nice and up to date furniture. However, I am no one of those lucky people, my furniture is a bit bulkier and has showing of general wear and tear, but nothing too severe enough to complain about. I cannot speak for the 4 person suites, but the 8 person suits are very spacious and trust me 8 people may sound like a lot, but it's really not. I personally enjoys having 7 other girls around me as it lessens my home sickness as I am out of state. Overall, I think if you're interested in VCU, then don't be so apt to immediately want to move into the most recently built dorm, GRC, thought ones like Brandt are a bit older, they are truly an option worth considering.

I very much enjoyed my stay at Brandt Hall. One of the things that I like about it was there was a common are that about 8 people share, and I like that feature because I was able to make more friends that way. I also was pleased with the fact that it was a suite instead of traditional bathrooms. Not that there is anything wrong with a traditional bathroom, I was just more comfortable that way. I would definitely recommend Brandt Hall to an oncoming VCU student.

I lived in a suite in Brandt hall with 8 other girls. I enjoyed the community, but it was hard to live in a 17-story building with 3 total elevators that rarely worked. The laundry services provided were also disgusting and old.

Brandt Hall was nice, but it did have its flaws. The room I had was a four-room suite with eight roommates. When you first walk in there is a big living room with two doors and a hall off to the side with two doors. Something that was irritating was the amount of dust that piled up in the hall and the living room. The vents are lined with mold, not exactly sure what type but it generally led to me and my roommates getting sick a lot our first year. Having a humidifier or air purifier helped. The rooms were nice and big had a sink two beds, two desks, two closets and big windows. The bathroom would be shared between two rooms so four roommates would share a bathroom. The bathroom is a room that can only be locked inside there was a shower and a toilet. Something we had to deal with was on two occasions we would see a huge water bug and didn't know exactly where it would come from. Overall it was a nice hall theres common areas and the entrance to the hall is connected to both Brandt and Rhoads hall. So they also have a common room and elevators to their rooms and there was a huge laundry room. The laundry room comes with its own problems the students taking out each other's stuff or the washers being mistreated or not working. Either way, you're always informed and there's also the occasional fire alarm evacuations late at night, early in the morning, whenever. It generally is due to smoking or students just pulling the alarm or whichever case is either way inconvenient.

I lived here my freshman year, and really enjoyed my time there. The RAβs were kind and helpful, and we were trusted as residents. Common areas were kept clean and maintenance was responsive when needed. The staff was always helpful and accommodating.

My experience at Brandt Hall was nothing short of average. It was not up to par with the newly developed dormitorys like the GRC, but at least there was not obvious signs of mold like in the Johnson dorms.

Friendly community as the RA hosted lots of cool events on our and other floors. They are a great way to meet new people who live in the same building. Downside is itβs really hot in the beginning of the year due to a lack of AC. Water fountain on floors other than the lobby are disgusting.

Brandt Hall is a really good place to meet new people. Some people have decorated their dorms really nicely. The elevators are really big and nice. I donβt feel closed in. A lot of great food options are within walking distance to Brandt Hall which is a great plus for me.

I enjoyed staying in Brandt Hall. I had wonderful suitemates, roommates, and my RA was so nice! Many people picked GRC because of their outstanding view and windows, but Brandt Hall is the nicest and cleanest in my opinion!

Brandt is a beautiful dorm to live in, the windows are quite large which of course is wonderful for the brain. I live on the fourth floor which is a lot of stairs but the view of the sunset is wonderful and the rooms are really large for a dorm.

Brandt is always kept clean and maintained. I have had no issues with anything since living there. They are nice, spacious rooms with vaulted ceilings. Big windows that open all the way. Large bathrooms with plenty of toilets and showers.

I stayed in Brandt as a freshman and really had no issues. I think my favorite thing though was how quick maintenance was when I put in a work order request. Usually, within a couple of hours to 2 days whatever, I had an issue with was fixed.

Brandt Hall provided me with a pleasant Freshmen year experience at Virginia Commonwealth University. The staff were are warm and kind to me throughout my residency and they offered help at any time I needed it. The laundry room was a little messy from time to time but that is to be expected of college students on their own for some of us (the first time). Other than that, I cannot recall an upsetting experience I've had there.

The room is very spacious with your own bathroom and sink, being a suite styled room. The living room is also spacious and provides a private common area for only your suite-mates/roommates. It is close to certain on campus restaurants, making meals convenient to grab and go. The building is small therefore a lot of the amenities are close by without having to travel far to the elevator, such as the mail room, laundry room, and trash. The only complaint would be the vents in the bathroom. Having a private bathroom is nice compared to a communal but, there is no vent system functioning while showering. Therefore the chances of mold and rust occurring is very high. Overall it is a nice room to have with a lot of space.

I'm glad that I got to live in Brandt Hall for my first year of college because this is a new experience for me. I like it because it is a 8 person suites with double bedrooms. During is hard time from the covid, everyone mostly stay in there room with their roommate, so it's very quiet. I also live on the 17th floor, the highest floor of the building. Overall, I really like the my dorm.

I am completely satisfied with my stay at Brandt Hall. My only complaint is that it tends to get a little dusty there for no apparent reason. But overall it's a lovely dorm to stay at. The staff is friendly, they do a good job of keeping everything clean.

The experience at the dorm is pretty good and I do not have any complaints about it. The security to get in is pretty thorough and the common areas are nice to meet new people. The location is also perfect since it is near a lot of food spots.
