It’s definitely not a first choice but overall the dorm room itself is not bad. It is similar to pritchard, maybe even a bit cleaner and the floors are smaller so it’s pretty quiet. Floors alternate genders and the small floors make it easy to get to know your hallmates

I loved Slusher. It truly was an amazing experience, and it's true what they say.. the best people are in Slusher. With that said, the dorm is not the newest/cleanest, but it's 100% liveable! My friends and I loved being in Slusher, our RA, Piper, was phenomenal and the staff will always be friendly and helpful. Slusher of 2020-2021 always had something going on, and during the weekends you would definately meet some new faces of people wanting to say hi around the hallways. I think Slusher made my freshman year at VT, and it truly isn't as bad as people say. You'll have the best time and it's in the BEST location on campus!

the typical college dorm experience you expect. gross dorms, grosser bathrooms, but the best people you can meet during your four years. Slusher is a very social dorm and there is always something going on.

Slusher Hall is commonly known as one of the worst dorms in Virginia Tech. After living there, I can understand why some of the reviews have this belief. However, if you are able to find a community that you are able to relate to, it will change the whole experience of college life and your dorm will have little to no effect on your experience.

Slusher Hall is in a great location. It is central to campus and right across from the drill field. It is also close to the Dietrick Hall dining center and West End Market. It does not have air-conditioning and the building itself is old. However, the heat is really only an issue in August and half of September so its not too bad.

While the bathrooms were sometimes messy and people were awake 24/7, it was a great first year experience! Slusher is near the drill field, West End dining hall, and war memorial gym. These amenities, along with recently remodeled rooms, make slusher hall a great place to live. However, no a/c is a real problem on hotter days.

My time at Slusher Hall was certainly memorable. To me, the biggest difficulties with in living in Slusher were the temperature control and overall cleanliness. To start, there is no air conditioning, which made the summer months quite uncomfortable. Due to the poor heating system, even winter months proved to be aggressively warm as well. Perhaps of most note was the overall cleanliness of the dorm. Living in Slusher Wing, the women's section only hosted two bathrooms per floor, which made for overcrowding in showers and stalls during peak hours. Additionally, the great deal of traffic contributed to a lack of cleanliness in the shower areas in particular. The laundry units were also poorly cleaned and there were often pest problems (an excess of cockroaches and silverfish) throughout the building. Despite these difficulties, there were some positive elements of being a resident Slusher that I did enjoy. To start, Slusher is very centrally located to the entire residential side of campus, which made for a convenient walk to the drillfield, dining halls, and other residences. It is located directly behind Dietrick Hall, which hosts both D2 and D-xpress, which are two of the larger dining halls. Slusher also boasted a fairly great number of study rooms and a central lounge. These were often great places for both community and study, which helped bond all students in Slusher Hall. The RAs would often host community events which encouraged camaraderie. Overall, I would say I had a fairly typical student experience in Slusher Hall.

People usually say that Slusher hall is one of the worst dorms, but I don’t believe that to be true. It’s very easy to make friends here because it’s a very social form during the day but then at night it’s very quiet. While there are communal bathrooms they get cleaned every single day and are very clean and you don’t feel gross showering or using the bathroom. I’ve made a lot of friends in this hall and you can really make your room your own and feel like home. The RA’s are also really nice and helpful with whatever you need.

The room we have been assigned is crazy small. Our beds have to be bunked in order to fit and there is too much big furniture for the space. My room mate has to step on my desk just to get into his bed. The floors are uneven and so none of our doors stay shut. For a pandemic the room should be a single. The location is pretty central for what I need though.

Slusher hall is a very special place to live, unlike any other dorm at Virginia Tech. As the tallest dorm on campus, it has the best views of the surrounding areas and mountains, which makes it extra special. Living in Slusher is an experience unlike any other and I feel the connectedness of the dorm is a big part of the Hokie spirit.

Slusher Hall has a lot of character, living there allows me to be part of a fun and exciting community. As the largest dorm on campus, more people live in this building than in any other. This makes it very easy for residents to meet other freshmen. The common areas are large and provide exceptional study areas along with TV's and couches to relax and have fun with friends. While the bathrooms are long overdue for a renovation, the individual rooms have a sink and adequate storage area. The view from the higher floors is unmatched, I often find myself watching the sunsets from my window. I am content living in Slusher Hall and I would recommend it to other freshmen.
