I knew McCarty through a friend who told me a lot about college and I was just excited to come study with you. It will be a great pleasure for me to continue my studies in the United States. To increase my knowledge and bring something new to this sector.

It's been lonely, but that may just be because of Covid-19. Everyone around here has generally been nice to me and pretty outgoing. There are instances where the Housing and Food Services will treat us dorm residences like we aren't paying for their services. They tend to treat us like it's one big summer camp vibe rather than cheaper affordable apartments that are associated with a college. We are independent beings and should be treated as such, forcing their residents to attend zoom meetings for things that are not our concern should not be a thing.

My McCarty experience has been great. I am a freshman engineering student living in a double with a private bath located right next to one of the study rooms that every floor has. The study rooms are super convenient when you need to focus on some work or if you need to work while your roommate is asleep. In addition to study rooms on each floor, there are also lounges with a stove, oven, etc. These are great if you ever want to mix it up from the dining hall food and want something other than microwaveable food. The dorm is located right next to a new turf field, which is excellent for spikeball, playing some catch, studying, and basically any outdoor activity. I also like North campus dorms (McCarty) because they are a bit more secluded than those on the West. It has a safer and on-campus feel. Additionally, it is located close to the IMA if you want to go work out and University Village if you ever want to shop or grab a bite to eat. McCarty's only drawback is that this year, due to COVID, the district market on the North campus was closed. The district market is like a small grocery store where you can use your husky card to pay. This would have been great to have, but unfortunately, due to the circumstances, it was never opened.

Staying in a dorm during COVID-19 is a different experience than in normal circumstances, so being able experience the hopeful dorm life and being able to connect to others have been limited. However, despite that there are still many friendly people and although there are restrictions there are still opportunities to meet and talk to others. There are facilities, such as lounges and kitchens available to students that make the living experience here more enjoyable as it expands us from our small rooms. The fit is tight and definitely a change, but I can still feel the warm atmosphere and would imagine the community being even more lively once things start getting back to normal.

I really like living in McCarty Hall. I'm currently living in a triple and love having a full bathroom in the room! I have had a great experience! The facilities are relatively new and super nice. It is in a great location on the north part of campus and close to a lot of the academic buildings.

McCarty is the best dorm! It is in the perfect location, with access to all of campus and the UVillage, and is within a great community on North Campus. I would definitely recommend McCarty to everyone!

I have enjoyed most of the time at McCarty hall it's only on the weekends when it gets the noisiest at night which can be annoying but overall an enjoyable place. I also am happy with how the Hall has tried to connect those on the same hall level.

First, I really enjoyed the location of McCarty. It was very close to the mail pickup area, the dining hall, and a short distance away from my classes and the Red Square. Second, it was close to both the Ave and UVillage, which made it very convenient to frequently try out various cuisines There were a plethora of food options to choose from. Next, I really enjoyed having a private bathroom primarily for its cleanliness. I had to only share it with two other people. Finally, I really liked the community that fostered within McCarty. Everyone on my floor made an effort to become each other's friends, which definitely eased the experience of adjusting to college.

McCarty is a relatively newer dorm here at UW, so it's a great option to recommend to friends if they're thinking of living on campus freshmen year. I think the rooms are a little small but during the quarantine, only having two people living in a triple dorm is very appreciated.
