Slichter Residence Hall Dorm Reviews at University of Wisconsin

Very old residence hall. The heat is super high in the winter; get a humidifier before you leave blood stains on the carpet (not that anyone can see them). The bathroom rating would be higher if people could stop washing their dishes in the communal bathroom sink (I was on the first floor, the kitchen is on the second floor). The elevator has a gate and not a door. It's also super slow. They say that the dorm is close to Carson's but there is nothing good to eat at Carson's and Dejope is the better choice to eat at. I had a toaster under my desk, the RA never noticed or cared. Warning: despite the fact that the kitchen is in its own room with no smoke detectors, people will still set off the fire alarms with the toaster in the kitchen :) Also the oven was broken a lot and if you hit it hard enough it will work for a while.

Slichter definitely matches more of the Lakeshore "vibe" you would expect- quiet, reserved, and somewhat anti-social. However, the location is nice if you are looking for something closer to Southeast but still in Lakeshore. It is also right on the Lakeshore path, so it is great for runners/hikers/joggers etc. If you want a smaller social scene and a cheap dorm this is the place for you.
