Dauten Hall Dorm Reviews at WashU

I lived in Dauten during my freshman year, in Fall 2020. Because of COVID, we all had to live in single rooms, so I had three roommates and we all had our own bedrooms. While I did have one of the smaller rooms, I actually liked living in Dauten. I ended up rearranging the furniture in my bedroom and the common room to make it more spacious and homey, and the common room ended up being a place my roommates and I would sit and hang out, eat, and do homework. I actually still live with one of my roomates from Dauten, and I still talk to the other two. Overall this was my best dorm experience, and I would take this dorm again. The balcony was also awesome, I loved sitting out there whenever I could.

Dauten Hall is one of the oldest dorm buildings at WashU, it is not that bad, but I would try to avoid traditional style buildings if going to WashU since modern style buildings are usually much nicer and up to date. The nicest part of living in Dauten Hall is that traditional buildings have a common room for each suite. This means that for each group of around 6 students, there's a living room with a couch that everyone can use.
