Cafaro House Dorm Reviews at Youngstown State

Living in Cafaro was truly a college experience. I highly recommend freshmen to live in Cafaro because it offers so many opportunities that can prepare you for "college life". From making tons of friends, close or far, to meeting amazing staff members and residential assistants. Especially, in front of the Cafaro Building, you can sit and relax on the grass and have a picnic session with your friends or study right outside the building in the front yard. Personally, noise is not a problem when living in Cafaro because the walls are thicker than in apartments. The bathroom and shower get clean every day and trash is also taken out often by workers. When having lunch, breakfast, or dinner the dining hall is just a few steps away so even if the days are during the winter, the cold won't keep you away from having a good meal. Since you will be living with people from not just from America there might be roommate conflicts or disagreements between one another but there's always a solution and that is talking to the RA or the housing manager. They are always ready to help and make your stay comfortable.

There are not enough highs at Cafaro House to make up for the extremely questionable lows. From the bat being loose to the fact that the entire building didn't have hot water for three weeks in the dead of winter, there were many times when I questioned whether or not it was worth it to even stay here. While the rooms are nice and maintained, the common areas are a bit old and inconvenient for hanging out in groups. Overall, I am staying here again and would likely recommend this to someone if they want the true college-YSU experience.

It was a good freshmen dorm. Good space for two people nicer than most dorms. Bathrooms can get messy but not terrible. Like the common space was nice to use when studying or hanging out with friends.

Cafaro House was an enjoyable experience. The RA's working there are very kind and helpful. The location on campus was nice, not too far from campus but it was still a 5-minute walk. The bathrooms were cleaned 2 times a day, same with the common rooms. The only issue was other people living in the building were noisy at times, but not always.

I liked the dorms for my first year experience, however, I have neighbors who are loud and the cleaning services here are always taking over the bathrooms and will not let us use them. Other than that it was decent.

Cafaro House is a wonderful dormitory that allows the inhabitants to get along greatly and be within a safe and clean environment. The staff is always ready and willing to help. The cleaning staff are wonderful at their jobs and make sure everything is clean during the times of the pandemic.

I love cafaro, but it is far away from the heart of campus. The bathrooms are fine except the showers, the tiles are peeling off in the 1st floor suite showers. I have seen bugs in the shower as well.

Cafaro is a great place to stay. I personally really like the sink outside the dorms. My only complaint is that the rooms are kind of small. Overall, however, it is well maintained. The basement is a great space to socialize. They have a kitchen, workout space, TV, vending machines, and FREE (yes, FREE, as in 0 cost) laundry. I love it. The community is great. Events are ALWAYS happening for students, mostly virtual because of COVID. The staff is VERY nice and pleasant always willing to great those who live there. Living there is very pleasant and would recommend it.

I think living in cafaro is very nice. In cafaro, you are paired into 8 or 18 man suites of people of your gender, who are typically in or related to your major. For instance, my 18 man men’s suite had 9 engineers(me), 2 physics, 2 math, 1 chemistry, and 4 people of other majors. A lot of these people w had shared classes with which made studying very easy. Internet during COVID has been upgraded as pre-Covid it was not great. It now works great.
