The Dwight Dorm Reviews at Columbia

Staying in the Dwight was an interesting experience. I would have sleepovers with my friends and we would get ready together at my place before all of the parts. It could use a little more privacy but I would indeed recommend it to someone else.

It's a lot of fancy show, but the charm wears thin sometimes. The units are furnished, but the furniture that is hardly comfortable. Tends to be noisy. The workout room is a joke for how many people there are in the building. Laundry isn't included. An extra waste is the meal plan- the hours are so limited you'll hardly use it. Unless you're super new to the city and need time to get your bearings- do off campus housing.

Great dorm building. Only issues I had were the lack of natural light in the bedrooms and the heating/cooling never worked right. The bedrooms only had a small window at the top of the wall facing the living area (mostly in the shared rooms; there were a few single bedrooms that had a full window) that let in very little light. Definitely needed a lamp of some sort to see anything almost any time of day. As for the thermostat, we could never set it. We could turn it up or down and it stayed the same. It was fine during the winter more so than the warmer months, but I needed a fan at night to sleep. It was very warm in there.

I loved staying at the Dwight. The atmosphere and the other students there were great. This building allowed me to meet so many of my friends. There were occasionally the bad staff experience with the old manager and the smell of weed in the hallways, but the staff that is currently there is fantastic! I loved living in the Dwight!

While the staff and general location of the Dwight are fine. There are little noises and creaks that can keep you up at night. there is also no overhead lights or wifi which is truly awful for the first few days when you move in.

The Dwight is a loft building that's a wonderful area for students to stay during school. My only complains are that because it is a oft there isn't much light in the bedrooms, which I was unaware of, and it is also the furthest building from my campus, so getting to class can be difficult sometimes.

My experience at The Dwight has been an average experience, I do not love nor hate the Dwight. However, if I had an option to chose this dorm another I would choose anther dorm. The Dwight does not have a lot of amenities that other Columbia College Chicago Dorms have, I know because I have lived at all of them. The security at the front desk, I would rate them below average because they do not do their job properly, I have found many residents who were not signed in and walked right up in the building without being stopped or scanning a key card. It is not that safe at the front desk. I would also like to recommend the building tear up the old carpets and replace it with hard wood floor because thee carpets have been hear for years and they smell terribly.

Dwight was the coolest dorm I have ever seen. It was apartments with amazing views, a graffiti room where you could write on the walls, lounges to hang out, and more. It made meeting people easy and definitely wasn't clasterphobic.

between apartments there doesn't seem to be much sound proofing, I can hear my neighbors quite clearly sometimes though within my own apartment I can't hear almost anything my roommates are up to. Staff is very friendly and I feel pretty safe walking around campus, to and from the dwight even at later times.
