Sicomoro Hall Dorm Reviews at Cal Poly Pomona

Sicomoro is one of the newer dorms and it's the freshman dorms. Everything is relatively clean with some exceptions. For the bathrooms, it all depends on who you share your bathroom with. In Sicomoro, you share your bathroom of 2 toilets and 2 showers with around 6 people. With that being said the cleanliness of your bathroom depends on the people who you share it with. My experience has been decent, there has been nothing too alarming. The actual dorm room has enough space and a good A.C. system. The Common areas are regularly occupied but there are about 6 common areas per floor and so you could easily find a place to relax/study or hang out with friends. Some issues that are common with Sicomoro, is that the elevators get broken really easily and this can lead to waiting a long time just to go to your floor. There are stairs but there are 8 floors and it can be difficult to go up all floors sometimes. Another, issue can be the long walk to your classes sometimes, the hall is pretty much on the opposite side of all the colleges and giving yourself enough time to make it to class on time is important. I would recommend getting a scooter,bike, or skateboard to help you if you don't like to walk. Sicomoro is close to most food areas, allowing easy access to the the dining hall which can be hit or miss, it is also close to the other food spots around campus. Sicomoro also is pretty close to the the BRIC which is the recreational area for students to work out, play sports, and climb up a rock wall. All in all, I am enjoying my time in the Sicomoro dorms and recommend them if you are considering going to Cal Poly Pomona.

Sicomoro Hall is a vibrant and enjoyable living space containing clean and spacious bathrooms. ACs are in every room and are easy to control, making hot days comfortable and cold days cozy. The beds are firm, making sleeping and waking up effortless. Whiteboards are spread around the building, allowing the residents to be expressive and share interests. The study rooms are great for studying with AC and couches to relax.

Sicomoro Hall is modern, has plenty of bathrooms, AC, windows in each room, and common areas. The dorm rooms are not very spacious. Living on the 2nd floor is easy, but elevators are the easiest way to access upper floors. The elevators can take a long time and are extremely high traffic areas during move-in. The RA is easy to contact, and roommate preferences are deeply considered. I was able to bring my bird to my dorm as an Emotional Support Animal, and it's improved my college experience.

Rooms ere very nice, however I didn't like that every room had a different sized window and mine had a very small one with small outside light access. Overall, bathrooms were always kept clean and quiet hours were maintained.

Quiet and clean dorms. Great first year student living. Bathrooms shared only with a few people, facilities are nice. Kitchen, laundry, and common/study rooms are in abundance and nice. Also close to everything on campus. Parking is always a struggle, not nearly enough.
