Dimond Family Residential Village Dorm Reviews at DU

It’s been great I have made many friends.I have had many great experiences. At first I was afraid I wouldn’t be welcome but I was. I am a part of the all-gender living and learning community. I have found many people that I have befriended who are very diverse in opinion, identity, and background.

The area is very clean and my floor is relatively quiet and respectful. Dimond is definitely a very nice freshman year dorm. The rooms themselves are spacious, and the showers are well kept, as well as the bathrooms.

I am currently a first year undergraduate student at the University of Denver, and the Dimond Family Residential Village is my first experience in living via my own means. My experience so far has been overwhelmingly positive, with my only complaints being that laundry costs $1.50 a load, a lack of outlets on my side of the dorm, and the occasional party returning to their rooms at 3 A.M. Overall, I would most definitely recommend Dimond above all other freshman dorms at DU, and nearly all my peers agree as well.

Dimond is the newest first-year dorm at DU. As such, it is complete with new amenities: nice bathrooms, large showers, and plenty of common areas with microwaves. There is one kitchen on the bottom floor, so I wouldn't recommend it for someone who cooks frequently, as the kitchen is often in use and there is only one. My favorite part, by far, is the location of Dimond. It is right across from the dining hall which was ideal on snowy days. My least favorite part was that it was often noisy and, quite frankly, common areas ended up very dirty as students failed to clean up after themselves (though the custodial staff did an incredible job and deserve all the thanks in the world).

For the most part, it was a very good dorm. It was bigger than other freshman dorms on campus and was the most modern and newest of the dorms. The showers and bathrooms accommodated for a good amount of people and were mostly clean. The walls were a bit thin but the room itself was very spacious.

Dimond has been a great time but it does get a bit rowdy at times, each pod has their own lounge which is nice but we don't have any ping pong tables or group game spaces. It's also right in the middle of campus so its location is really good and the Rebecca Chopp market is right next to us so we don't have to walk far at all for food anymore.
