University Commons Dorm Reviews at Georgia State

Generally, my experience at University Commons has been problem free with minor issues like sink and shower clogs. However, since it is an old building, some of the carpet and furniture need to be replaced.

Commons is a very comfortable place to live in if you want a room to yourself. It is located in front of a gas station which a lot of commotion and cars up and down the street. It is also expensive living there and a little extra money will help me be able to afford it for Fall 2023-2024

I have had a mixed experience at University Commons to say the least. To start off the school year, I was staying at University Lofts from August to October. I wasn't happy with my living situation at Lofts so I filed a room change request and moved to University Commons in October & everything is perfect.

Great access to campus and shuttle right in front of the building. Parking is available, and laundry is shared, so make sure you watch your belongings. There are study lounges on every floor, which are pretty quiet.

I think I would have had a much better experience at University Commons if I had stayed there while a pandemic was not going on. It was relatively quiet all the time and not very lively which I can confidently attribute to that fact that hardly anybody was there.

It has been a great experience this far, I feel so welcomed and really at home! I’ve made great friends and Georgia State has really made an effort to make it such a great environment and it really shows!

The hallways always smelled like weed and my roommates were annoying. Depending on the day it could be either extremely quiet or super loud. The carpets were also dirty and the provided furniture wasn't nice. The best part of the dorms was the location but it wasn't that nice to live there.

Overall, I had an okay experience living at university commons. The common areas and maintenance could have been better especially for how much we had to pay for housing.The security especially where we were located was pretty secure and I felt safe enough.

It was a great experience living at the commons this year. It was very clean and the staff did their best to make sure our living area was safe. There is even an area within the commons where you could go to study or even do yoga.

I was in University for one semester cut short due to COVID. All in all living in commons was very well. It was a student apartments format so you still had the apartment feel in a dorm. I enjoyed my time at commons. The dining hall was directly across the street. As well as the shuttles stopping directly in front of dorms.

My time at the university commons was nice. I mostly picked it for the safety measures it had. It was definitely safer than a lot of the other housing options on campus. Along with that, I preferred the apartment style of my dorm so it was better than others.

This year has been hard to navigate for everyone— and overall university commons is a good dormitory. Nowhere would be perfect although I do think some of the newer rules implemented for COVID-19 could be reworked.

It was good but I had a lot that needed to be fixed along with submitted work orders but was given no help with it. My room light was busted, my sink jacked up, the shower was messed up and low quality. Other than that it was fine. I was there Fall 2020.

My experience dorming at University Commons has been above average for me but when compared to others experience it would be below average. I am a homebody which mean that I enjoy staying indoors and on top of that I am an introvert, which means I enjoy being alone. I chose to dorm to make friends and I completed that goal. Thankfully by dorming I was able to make life long friends that I've never had due to my inclusiveness. My dorm friend have been nothing but friendly to me and lets just say I've experience many firsts with my friends. The location of the Commons in in Atlanta which is very convenient. There are multiple resources within a walking distance that I have easy access to, such as restaurants, jobs, and school buildings. Although its location is in Atlanta, the security at the Commons makes me feel very safe living in Atlanta. The multiple security requirements before entering the building make me even safer, as it is difficult for non-residence to enter the building. Over my experience at University Commons has been exceptional in my point of view. From accommodates, such as the dorm itself and study rooms, to the system of the Commons, such as the mail system, I have enjoyed my time at the Commons. Being a first year at Georgia State I would definitely recommend other to dorm here if possible and I would definitely dorm my next year.

So far my experience at University Commons has been amazing. The staff are super nice and the security that the building has makes me feel super safe. I love living there and would love to go back next semester. It's such a perfect place to make new friends and be with the friends you already have. The building itself if in such a great spot that you won't miss out on anything being near other housing and being able to make even more friends.

It's cool and close to food places. There is a lot of weed everywhere. I had never smoked gas before but since I came here boy oh boy give me that lettuce. RA is pretty cool. She stays out of the way.

Not freshman friendly because most people stay in their rooms when they're home and don't utilize the common spaces like in the Freshman centered dorms. Maybe a convenient option for sophomore year but after that I would probably look into student apartments if you have the means. Dull looking & outdated furniture & appliances. It was nothing special but if you're creative you could probably make the most out of it. If you can afford the more expensive rooms with the money you pay to live there, you might as well get a student apartment & get more space and modern living. But if you want the safest student living option on campus, then the dorms would be better because they have a heavily monitored security gate that only allows one person. It is conveniently next to the gas station & walking distance to food options (dining hall, restaurants and the main campus.)

University Commons is a great dorm to stay in. You get a great mixture of privacy and community. I loved that I had my own bathroom and room. I also loved the beautiful views of the city. The only thing I would change is the appliances in the kitchen. They need an update.

The University Commons is a very nice place to live. I appreciate that I have a room to myself, and I don't have to share with another person. Especially since we are in a pandemic. The bathroom space is more than satisfactory, my only gripe is that the bathroom is a little small. The area that the University Commons is located in is very convenient. There are food places all around, so I can find a place to eat easily. The nearest place to get groceries is in walking distance of my dorm. All in all, I highly enjoy living in the Commons.

It is a very nice dorm. If you go to ULM is it a great dorm to start with if you want a roommate. The spacing is great and you will make friends in the halls . The study rooms are so handy and just a good place to study and get out of your room.
