It was very quiet yet calming where it kind of felt like a library. Sometimes it got a little too quiet where I would often wonder if there was anyone else present in the building. The staff always had a smile on their face and always kept an eye out for us.

One of side of the building tends to be hotter and less breezy, depending on the time of day and year. But this is a beautifully located dorm in the heart of Manoa. It has great views of Diamond Head and Manoa Valley.

Hale Aloha Ilima is a great dorm. Its fairly quiet and clean. It has a great view and working amenities. RA's and cleaning staff are friendly and helpful. I feel safe in the building as key cards are needed to enter.

For the most part, the dorming experience has been pretty seamless. Some problems with the bathroom regarding cleanliness and often lack of paper towels and soap. Some of the lounge areas are kind of dirty, but besides that there is a great view and the lanais on each floor are nice to relax on.

Hale Aloha Ilima is one of the Freshman dorms and I've had great experiences. With its circular shape, I was able to go around the floor and meet new people so much more easily because of its shape. The bathrooms were communal bathrooms and I have never had an unpleasant experience where others didn't clean up after themselves. A huge part of my transition from my peaceful, comfortable home life was this circular, freshman dorm. The RA's were always welcoming and the staff in general including the cleaning staff were helpful and nice. The security of the building, well, we needed to use our student ID's to be able to get into the building. For friends or family visiting, they would have to sign a guest sign in. I do remember when my friends surprised me with balloons and a celebration on the top floor. I've made lasting friendships with people from high school whom I never thought I would grow close with. This dorm allowed me to experience life and enjoy freedom.

I really enjoyed dorming in the freshman dorm during the summer. It can be very quiet, depending on your roommate and neighbors. However, you will get a whole new experience living with other people close to your age. There is tutoring available at the dorms at night. The staff is very friendly and the cafeteria is right next door. All you can eat buffet, the food is great! They serve deserts too. I put a lot on my plate and so does my roommates. One of the bathrooms can be scary at night because the light doesn't work, hopefully they fixed it by now? There is a kitchen, living room, washer/dryer on the top floor. The top floor you have a very beautiful view, especially when there is a sunset. There is a parking lot and there is a campus bus and the public bus (very convenient). I would advise to set firm boundaries and rules with the roommate. That way you guys will not have any problems in the long run. There was a roommate who hold the elevator, waiting for one person, made my friends and I late. Don't be that person who holds everyone back, it's a bad look. Don't set an alarm that will take an hour or two for you to wake up too, you will drive your roommate insane, just put in earphones or ask roommate to wake you up. And be sure to make friends with your roommate or other roommates because it is a super fun experience with friends. I felt safe on campus too because there is an app you can download to contact security. They can escort you too if you don't feel safe. Also, there are blue poles everywhere on campus with a button for emergence too. I would highly recommend as a freshmen looking for dorm experience.
